Once apon a time, there were two kingdoms. Asahina and Yoisaki. While the Asahina Kingdom often fought in wars due to their high power, the Yoisaki Kingdom tended to stay out of war, opting to help the refugees from the war instead. The Queen of Asahina Kingdom didn't seem to like that, though. Which was why they were here.
"Good morning, King Yoisaki. I see Princess Kanade has accompanied you." King Asahina said. Kanade bowed towards him.
"It is a great honour to see you, King and Queen Asahina." Kanade said.
"Yes, I suppose. Mafuyu has been preparing tea for you in the garden, you may go join him." Queen Asahina said and Kanade smiled.
Mafuyu... It's been so long since I've seen her. Last time was... when she was going to war... I hope she didn't get hurt. Kanade thought as she was guided toward the garden. Kanade smiled when she saw Mafuyu.
"Prince Mafuyu, it's nice to see you again." Kanade smiled. Mafuyu turned around and took Kanade's hand, placing a gentle kiss.
"It's a pleasure to see you too, Princess Kanade. Please, sit. Let's have a chat, like how we used to as children." Mafuyu said. Kanade sat at the table and looked around in awe, the Asahina's garden was beautiful.
"The garden is beautiful, Mafuyu." Kanade smiled, and Mafuyu felt her heart beating faster.
Not as beautiful as you. You don't know the days I spent on the battlefield thinking about you. Did you think about me?
"Hmm, I suppose so. Would you like to take a walk?" Mafuyu asked, reaching out her hand to Kanade. Kanade took her hand and they started walking through the garden together. They talked about everything and nothing, it had been years since they saw each other yet it felt like they talked everyday.
"Oh, your hand..." Kanade said sadly when she noticed the big scar on Mafuyu's other hand. Kanade took it and gently caressed it.
"I hope today's discussion goes well." Kanade whispered. Mafuyu looked away.
"We have no say in the matter, Kanade." Mafuyu said bluntly.
"At least you should. I hate to see you get hurt like this. The fact that you have to fight in meaningless wars like this breaks my heart." Kanade said. Mafuyu nodded.
I don't like it when you're sad... It makes me feel cold.
"We-" Mafuyu tried to say something, but was caught off by the loud sound coming from the palace. Mafuyu looked at Kanade, unsaid words choking her throat.
I'm sorry. I love you.
Mafuyu sat at the ruins of the Yoisaki Palace. Ripped pieces of Kanade's portrait was in front of her. Mafuyu kneeled down.
"I love you." Mafuyu whispered softly.
"I'm sorry."
