The Cause of Our Euphoria

Summary:

After a long shoot, Sky and Nani return home to find their beloved Smyle and Neona turned human.

Notes:

Title inspired by Euphoria by Jungkook of BTS💜

I had an idea about Sky and Nani being parents but I didn't want to use ChingChing since she's from the HSF universe and not our universe, so I used Smyle and Neona. SkyNanis' babies🥹🥹🥺

I hope you all like it^^

Chapter Text

Finishing up their Grab promotion shoot, Sky and Nani were exhausted. The heat had been unbearable, the flashing cameras endless, and all Sky wanted to do was get home and crash on his couch. Nani, also quite tired from the day’s events, too drained to head home, had opted to stay over at Sky’s place.

The drive back was mostly silent, except for Nani humming Selena Gomez’ “Bluest flame” softly to himself as he scrolled through his phone. Sky glanced at him once in a while, half-smiling. He liked moments like this. Just the two of them. Comfortable. Easy.

A/N: I am not thai or fluent in thai so I just used what came up in google searches to address both Sky and Nani as "Dad/Father" in Thai

But as they pulled into Sky’s driveway, comfort turned into chaos.

The second Sky unlocked the door, a blur of movement and loud shrieks filled the entrance.

“PHO!!” {Sky}

“PÁA!!” {Nani}

Sky barely had time to react before two small figures came barreling toward them at full speed. One boy with soft blue hair and a smile that radiated like the sun, clung onto Sky’s leg like he’d done it a hundred times before, while the other—shorter, with soft pink hair and bright eyes— just like Nani’s—threw himself at Nani, wrapping tiny arms around his waist.

Nani froze.

Sky? Sky was malfunctioning.

“WHAT—WHO—WHERE—”

He looked down at the blue-haired boy gripping him like a lifeline, then at Nani, who was standing as still as a statue, staring down at the pink-haired child still latched onto him.

Sky cleared his throat, carefully prying the child off. “Okay, uh—who—who are you?”

The pink-haired boy pouted, clutching Nani’s hand. “Smyle show Paa what we drew first!” he whined.

“Nooo, Neona! I wanna show Pho first!” the blue-haired one, apparently Smyle , huffed, tugging on Sky’s shirt.

Sky blinked rapidly. Nani, still stiff as a board, finally managed to find his voice. “Wait. Wait, wait, wait.” His hands hovered above Neona’s tiny shoulders, like he wasn’t sure if touching him would make this real. “Smyle? Neona?”

His voice cracked on the names, because those names—

Those names were all too familiar.

Sky and Nani turned to each other, both of their eyes widening in the same moment. No. No, it couldn’t be. Those names belonged to—

No, they belonged to—

The dolls.

Their dolls. The ones they had merch of. The ones they’d taken care of, fussed over, played around with like they were real—

But these weren’t dolls.

These were kids .

Human kids.

Sky took a deep breath, trying to will away the growing headache forming behind his eyes. “Okay. Okay. Nani, tell me you’re seeing this too.”

“I—” Nani swallowed, then slowly nodded. “I’m seeing it.”

“…Are we hallucinating?, Is it the mirinda we just drank?” Sky asked weakly.

Neona tilted his head. “Paa?”

Nani made a noise somewhere between a laugh and a broken sob. “Sky. What. Is. Happening.”

Sky had no answers. Just two tiny, impossibly familiar children looking up at them like they’d known them forever.

And Sky wasn’t ready to accept what that meant. Not yet.

Sky and Nani didn’t say much after that. They were too stunned, too dazed, too weirdly attached to these little humans already. Instead, they moved on instinct—silent agreement flowing between them like it always did when the cameras were off and the world quieted down.

“Juice?” Sky asked weakly, already moving to the kitchen.

“Yeah. Juice sounds good,” Nani muttered, eyes never leaving the pink-haired child—Neona—who was still watching him cautiously.

The kids made themselves at home with terrifying ease, plopping down on the couch like they’d done it a thousand times before. Smyle kicked his legs happily, eyes scanning the room with curiosity. Neona fiddled with the hem of his shirt, sneaking glances at Nani every few seconds like he was trying to read his silence.

Sky handed Smyle a small cup of mango juice while Nani helped Neona with his. They undressed out of their tight promo clothes, taking turns keeping an eye on the boys—Sky slipping into one of his baggy tees and sweatpants, Nani opting for soft fleece bottoms and one of Sky’s oversized hoodies.

Once everyone was settled, Sky and Nani sat cross-legged on the floor in front of the couch. They shared a look. A hesitant, wide-eyed we’re not okay but we’ll try kind of look.

“So…” Sky cleared his throat. “Uh. How did you two get here?”

Neona sipped his juice quietly while Smyle beamed like he’d been waiting for that question all day.

“Our dads are acting funny,” Smyle announced matter-of-factly. “Pho’s voice sounds the same, but his eyes look confused.”

“Mmhm,” Neona agreed softly, clutching his juice with both hands. “Paa didn’t cuddle me yet…”

Nani flinched like the words physically hit him. “Wh—what?”

Smyle shrugged. “We came from your hearts!” he said with the confidence only a four-year-old could have. “That’s what you told us. We’re twins, remember? Born on the same day ‘cause your love was so big and strong.”

Sky’s mouth opened. Closed. Then opened again. “We said… what now?”

Neona climbed off the couch, padding toward Nani slowly. “You said we came from the love Pho and Paa had. That one day we were just here ‘cause we were meant to be.”

“Paa always takes us to the park,” Smyle added helpfully. “And Pho teaches us how to skate even though Paa says that’s too dangerous for babies. But I’m not a baby! Right, Neona?”

Neona didn’t answer. His eyes shimmered and he clutched Smyle’s sleeve.

“Paa hasn’t cuddled me,” he whispered again, lower this time, like it was a secret he didn’t want anyone else to know.

That was all it took for Nani to finally snap out of his daze. His face crumpled as he opened his arms wide. “Neona—come here, baby.”

Neona’s tiny face lit up like a sunrise as he darted forward into Nani’s lap. Nani wrapped him up tightly, arms protective, holding him like he was something fragile and precious and unbelievable.

“I’m not mad,” Nani murmured, tears threatening to spill. “I just didn’t know. I didn’t understand. But I’d never be mad at you.”

Neona clung to him like a koala, burying his face into the crook of Nani’s neck.

Sky watched the whole scene unfold, something aching and swelling in his chest at the same time. He looked at Smyle, who smiled up at him with those big bright eyes.

Without a word, Sky pulled him into his lap and whispered, “You know what, kid? I think Pho’s starting to remember.”

Smyle giggled and leaned into the embrace like it was the most natural thing in the world.

Sky looked up at Nani. “We need to talk about this.”

Nani, still hugging Neona, nodded. “Yeah. But… maybe not tonight.”

“Tomorrow?”

“Tomorrow,” Nani agreed.

They didn’t have answers. Not yet. But somehow, some way, these two tiny humans were theirs.

And for tonight… they were just two dads.
