Chapter Text
Today was the day.
When Buck saw Eddie’s Uhaul driving away all those months ago, he had thought This is it. the last time I’ll ever see my best friend. That was why when Eddie called him the day prior to announce that he and Chris were returning to LA, Buck could not believe it.
Now he was once again standing at the driveway, watching a truck grow bigger and bigger as it approached.
Eddie was coming home
It didn’t feel real.
Even when he saw the door open and a man step out, it still felt like a dream.
When buck snapped back to reality he was in eddie’s arms, feeling another smaller set join into the hug
“I’ve missed my two favorite people”
“So did we” Chris grinned up at him. He’d grown so much since buck had last seen him. The videos eddie sent buck didn’t show how tall the kid was now.
The three of them started to unpack, but a problem arose once they brought the first box inside. Bucks furniture was everywhere
“Sorry you two, I haven’t had time to move out”
“Hey no worries, you’ve only had a day of warning. we can start with our essentials, and figure it out from there”
They spent the day catching up, despite their frequent calls, nothing compared to finally being in the same room once more.
The sky grew dark too fast, as Buck would love nothing more than to stay on the couch with his best friend forever
Shit
it was getting late, and eddie had just reclaimed his house.
“Hey eddie, I should probably get going. You and Chris have a good night…. welcome back”
“going…? Where?” Eddie asks, confused.
“Ummmm you and chris are back now, enjoy your house. I don’t need to be in the way”
“Where will you sleep?”
“uhhh Maddie’s?”
“It’s your home too, just stay”
“no, It’s your home. I was just watching it so you didn’t have to worry”
“Buck i’m not kicking you out, Chris has missed you while we’ve been in texas and would love if you stayed with us”
“Thanks eddie, I’ll try to find a new place quick and get out of your hair”
Eddie sighs
So that’s how Buck ended up sleeping on Eddie’s couch for the foreseeable future.
He tried to pack, but he was constantly finding his things(Which he could’ve sworn were already in boxes) scattered around mixed in with Eddie’s things.
Eddie was getting impatient, constantly asking buck if he was, “planning on sleeping on the couch forever” Each time buck would insist that he was looking for a place of his own… but he didn’t want to.
Living with eddie felt….right.
But buck could tell that eddie was getting tired of him still living there.
He never said anything, always insisting that it was fine, and buck could take as long as he wanted, but…. buck knew he was wanting to live with chris alone. return their lives to normal. Buck wasn’t apart of that normal. They wanted him to leave.
Buck was looking for a new house, he really was…. it was just hard to compete with perfect
