"You know what phrase I hate?" Cleo began, pulling the needle through.
"Which one?" Joe responded, as if it was a question.
They sighed. "'Coming back wrong'. As if that's a thing people can do-"
"I did it!" He smiled innocently, watching her brows as they knit together.
She pulled the thread taut. "Yeah, but you're Joe Hills. You come back wrong every time you wake up."
"That's true!" He looked off to the side, as if the camera was there, rather than in his eye. "And, if you reach the next donation goal, I will disappear faster!"
She elected to ignore him- a good decision, he had to say. Or, not really say- "Who's to determine what coming back right means, anyway? Coming back al-"
"Coming back alive? You can't really do that, is the thing- like, a good enough necromancer can make you seem alive-"
"Or does it mean 'coming back the same'?" The rest of the stitches weren't as tight. "'Cause... you can't really do that, either. You try dying forever and then going back to work!"
"I mean, at least my body's mostly intact!"
She continued sewing his hand back on in lieu of responding.
