The walk down to the Ribbon wasn't the worst. It was definitely better to be in a car, but M&M didn't own a car of his own nor did he care to learn how to drive. Besides, he liked taking Johnny out for walks. The wolf seemed to like it as well with the way he'd tilt his head upwards towards the sun and sniff the air. At least, that's how M&M read it. As long as Johnny was enjoying himself, M&M didn't really care what was happening. He wasn't too sure why he came to the Ribbon honestly. There was no point without a car or without Byron. He made a slight hum sound as he thought about Byron. It'd been weeks since the two had last talked, since they.. M&M felt his cheeks heat up slightly, ducking his head down a little. Johnny seemed to notice, turning his head to look back at him with that twitching nose of his.
"I'm fine, Johnny, don't worry." M&M soothed his wolf with a scratch to his chin.
Johnny growled softly but he wasn't angry, no he made that sound when he was happy or content. M&M hadn't had Johnny long, but he could read him like a book. Words were never really used between the two. Nonverbal communication is what they did best. If M&M was sad, Johnny knew. If Johnny was wary of someone, M&M would know pretty quickly. They basically could read each other's minds if they so pleased. That came in handy quite a lot considering that Johnny was M&M's service animal. Johnny was always there to help keep him calm or to calm him down when he was having a freakout. Johnny was a good dog despite his origins. M&M loved him with all his heart. He was the best wolf anyone could want, which was funny because M&M hadn't ever been allowed near any werewolves since he was real little and almost got mauled by a big blonde one that stalks around the city. Most of M&M's life he'd been scared of werewolves because of that, but then he met Johnny and things changed.
They'd saved each other. M&M saved Johnny from being put down and Johnny has saved M&M more times than he can count. Being in public wasn't much of an issue for M&M, it's more the crowds that were. He was a very social person, he loved talking with people. Although he was better adapted to being a listener. Johnny listened when he talked. Johnny did lots of things for M&M. He helped him, he listened, he protected.
M&M looked around the Ribbon, Johnny close beside him. Johnny was wearing a bright yellow vest, it'd been given to him when he finally finished his service animal training. It said 'Do Not Approach' on it. Johnny wasn't dangerous in the slightest, in fact he was very friendly with those M&M trusted. OK, that's a lie. Johnny was dangerous. He had quite the temper on him and was fiercely protective of M&M. He'd even bit Cathy once! Johnny could be real scary when he wanted to be. He really was just a good dog.
M&M rubbed his arm lightly, people were getting too close. He never remembered the Ribbon being so crowded. Then again, each time he'd been there, he'd been in a car. Johnny slowed his pace, now walking directly at M&M's side. M&M reached his hand out, grabbing hold of Johnny's as his breathing began to quicken. Johnny was on top of it pretty quickly. He steered Johnny away from the crowd. He pushed him down to the ground as tears pricked his dark eyes. Johnny shifted forms quickly, a wolf laid up on the trembling boys lap. M&M grabbed hold of the fur around his neck, pressing his face into the wolf's neck. Johnny gave a light whine, rearing his head around to lick at the tears that were spilling from his eyes.
"'m s-s-" M&M tried to get his words out, pressing his face back into Johnny's dark brown fur as he began to full blown sob. Johnny nuzzled M&M's face, letting out a low whine as he rested himself upon the dark haired boys lap. They stayed like that for a few minutes, M&M slowly beginning to calm down before a man approached.
"Hey, kid, you alright?" He asked, reaching a hand out towards M&M. Johnny acted quickly, without thought. Sharp teeth sank into fragile flesh. Drops of scarlet dripping to the ground and onto M&M's pants.
The man jerked backwards, tearing flesh as he ripped his hand from the wolf's maw. "Bloody beast!" He shouted in anger, holding his wounded hand. "What's a dangerous animal like that doing here!?"
M&M panicked, grabbing hold of Johnny's muzzle and pulling his back against his chest. "H-he didn't mean it!" He cried, holding his wolf's head in his arms like a frightened child with a newborn animal. "He.. he's my service animal, h-he was just protecting me."
"Protecting you? It bit me! I better not get rabies. That monster outta be put down!" The man continued to shout, blood dripping between his fingers.
Johnny growled at the man, yellow eyes narrowed and heckles raised. The man soon left, swearing he'd get 'the feral monster that attacked him' put down. M&M held onto Johnny, adjusting his DO NOT APPROACH vest to be more visible. "L-let's go home, Johnny.." He sniffled, climbing onto Johnny's back. He was so tired.. he just wanted to go home..
