Mikasa sucked in a breath, her heart beating even faster. “The way you made a fool of your brother, how beautiful you looked while you did it. The reason I knew what the emperor had done to you was because it was exactly what I would’ve done myself if I got to you first.” He moved his hand, drawing his thumb along her cheekbone. His touch was so gentle it made her ache. “Though, I would’ve done some other things differently.”
“Such as?” Mikasa asked, doing her best to keep her voice steady.
“The second your brother was dead, I would have married you.”
