“I know you think you have to lie, but you don’t. I’m not trying to pressure you if you’re not ready but you can tell me if you want,” you look away and hate that he can see you so clearly.
Chan gives you a soft smile and reaches into his pocket, holding a small piece of paper in his hand. You reach up and take it with a nervous, shaky hand. You open it and it’s his name with a small star drawn next to it and a number underneath. “That’s my personal number. No work stuff, no questions. If you need help, you call me and I’ll be there, anytime.”

Hyunjin walks over towards the door but stops next to you. You glance up to look at him, to question if he needs something but he startles you by brushing a hand under your chin. It’s gentle and careful but firm enough to tip your face from side to side. You’re frozen under his touch as he looks at your poorly hidden bruise and the bandage on your head. His eyes are soft but his expression is hard, brows furrowed and his mouth pressed tightly together, like he’s trying to hold himself back.
Still holding your chin he finally looks into your eyes, “You’re a bad liar,” he says quietly.
