Work Text:
With the paperwork taken care of, Wei Wuxian felt a little more grounded in this new reality, though he still needed to get some other things figured out. They had made plans with Chairman Go and Hunter Woo to get assessed early so they could figure out what level he was at.
He felt weirdly exhausted, and he wasn’t entirely sure why. Maybe it was because of all the new things he’d learned while listening to Chairman Go and Jinwoo talking - Hunter Woo adding in commentary every now and then when it was needed.
The rest of the day after meeting the Chairman had thankfully been a calmer affair - aside from all the staring of course. Right now he was sitting on the floor in lotus position with his eyes closed, the quiet sounds of Jinwoo and his sister talking about her day in the background.
His brows furrowed as he tried to figure out the differences in his body, it was his but it felt different than it had before everything else. His meridians were clear - there was no dantian, but it didn’t seem to matter as his body swam with power.
What he didn’t notice was his hair was floating softly as he sat there, clothes rustling in an unseen breeze as his pale skin glowed faintly. The sound of conversation cut off as both siblings glanced over, eyes wide.
Sung Jinwoo moved over, coming to a stop in front of him and slowly sat down, watching as Wei Wuxian sat there with a concentrated look on his face, fists clenched on his knees. Sung Jinah glanced at her brother who shook his head slightly at her, not wanting to interrupt the other man.
She slipped into her room unnoticed as Sung Jinwoo focused all of his attention on the other, eyes taking in every twitch and movement Wei Wuxian made as he sat there. They stayed like that for a long time, before Wei Wuxian’s eyes flashed open, a gasp being torn from his throat; eyes bleeding into a delicate crimson.
Sung Jinwoo didn’t flinch, only reached out for the other, holding his hands out beside him in a silent reassurance without touching him. Wei Wuxian shook himself before looking around as if trying to remember where he was, and when he did - threw himself into the other’s arms, wrapping his arms around Jinwoo’s shoulders desperately.
“Tell me what you need.” He murmured, wrapping his arms tightly around Wuxian in response, curling his longer frame around the other man now curled up in his lap.
A shaky breath left his lips, body curling further into Jinwoo’s lap. He wasn’t sure what he needed - aside from the skin contact. “Hold me.” He choked out, burying his face against the other’s shoulder. This connection was terrifyingly strong, both unable to really fight it - even if they’d wanted too.
One of his hands tangled in Wuxian’s hair, the other sliding up under his shirt and pressing him closer. “I’ve got you.” He rumbled, feeling the other shiver and relaxing against him, Wuxian’s legs going to wrap around his waist in a hold that left little space between them.
Wei Wuxian’s own hands moved to hold onto him, one tangling in the short hair at the back of his head, the other going around his shoulders so he could press his face against the other’s throat. Tightening his thighs, he slid his nose against the other’s adam's apple for a moment before he leaned up - pressing their lips together.
The kiss wasn’t rushed, it was slow; exploratory and soft. They’d both frozen for a moment when their lips brushed before just feeling - right. Arms tightened as Wuxian pressed up, their chests flush against each other.
Jinwoo leaned over, pressing the other against the floor and kissing him a little harder, swiping his tongue along the seam of Wuxian’s lips and pressing in as soon as he opened. His thighs tightened around Jinwoo’s hips, hips aligning like they’d always meant too.
The kiss grew in intensity but stayed slow, their breathing growing ragged as their tongues clashed. An experimental grind of the hips had Wuxian gasping into the kiss, a groan falling from Jinwoo’s lips as the other’s legs clamped down.
One hand was on Wuxian’s hips while the other had a hand in his ponytail, tugging his head back to deepen the kiss as he ground his hips against the others, leaving Wuxian moaning; shuddering. Jinwoo's shirt was halfway up his back, the other’s heels digging into the dips on either side of his spine.
They both froze when they heard a sound from Jinah’s room, bringing them crashing back into reality. Pulling apart, they gazed at each other with wide eyes, panting and looking flustered.
“God.” Wuxian muttered, breathless as he closed his eyes and tilted his head back with a soft laugh, a smile so incredibly fond on his face.
Huffing, Jinwoo leaned down and pressed a kiss to the other’s throat, before sitting back and pulling the other up with him, settling him on his lap again.
“No God’s here.” Jinwoo murmured, causing Wuxian to arch a brow at him - lips twitching as he shook his head.
“You sound so sure.” He replies quietly, tangling his fingers in Jinwoo’s hair all over again as they keep close, mussing up the dark locks.
“If there were, life would be a hell of a lot different.” Jinwoo retorted quietly before leaning in for another quick kiss. It was only for a moment before they both pulled back; pressing their foreheads together and closing their eyes.
“Then what do you call me being here?” Wuxian asked even softer, so unlike himself in this moment as he let the other be his rock.
“A gift.” Is the only reply he gets, causing his eyes to flash open; stunned. It caused his eyes to mist over, his moonstone eyes welling up with unshed tears. No one had ever called him a gift, and no one had meant it in the most sincere way like Jinwoo did - they didn’t even know each other and yet…
“Jinwoo.” He gasped, clinging to the other desperately.
“I have you.” Jinwoo replied, strong arms like steel bands wrap tighter around Wuxian and keep him centered.
They’d figure out this wild thing later, right now though - Jinwoo stood up, Wuxian in his arms and carried him to his room.
Crawling into bed, he laid back and kept Wuxian on his chest, going to sleep entwined like they have since they met. Legs tangled and Wuxian’s head on his chest, they fell asleep; lips swollen from kissing and tears sliding down Wuxian’s cheeks.
Sung Jinwoo stayed awake long into the night, arms wrapped snugly around the other, keeping him close and letting him know without saying that he’d be here.
That look in Wei Wuxian’s gaze earlier had been haunted, terrified; hopeless. Whatever had happened to him before he’d shown up in Jinwoo’s time had left him scared and scarred and drifting aimlessly. It left Jinwoo wanting to hide him in his arms and let his shadows take care of the rest.
Leaning in to press a soft kiss to the crown of Wuxian’s head, his eyes locked on one of his shadows that slid up from the ground, kneeling with their head lowered respectfully.
“I want you to search for any energy irregularities, bring some others with you, and report back to me with anything you find.” He murmurs quietly, eyes glowing.
The soldier dips lower in acknowledgement before vanishing. Falling asleep after that is easier said than done, but it comes.
An alarm goes off through the flat, alerting them to the need to wake up and Wuxian stiffens at the sudden noise; yelping loudly. Arms tighten around his waist to keep him from falling off the bed and he blushes, huffing as he buries his face against the other’s chest.
“Mornin’.” Jinwoo says, voice rough from sleep and sending a shiver down Wuxian’s spine.
“Keep sounding like that and it might be a little bit of a different morning.” Wuxian murmurs, causing Jinwoo to freeze for a moment before pressing their hips together, clothed erections straining against each other.
“Don’t tempt me.” He retorts, leaving Wuxian sucking in a sharp breath as he moves to crawl out of bed. Jinwoo gives him a heated look before leaving for the bathroom to shower and get ready, while Wuxian sits up and stares after him, heart racing and cheeks flushed.
Rubbing his hands down his face roughly, he drops his hands; a smirk painted over his lips before he stands up, stretching. Changing into clothes he’d gotten yesterday, he tugs on a pair of black jeans, a red v-neck shirt with a rabbit on it.
He’d seen people with their nails painted and had been curious; awkwardly asking Jinah about it and she’d… given him a manicure; nails a glossy black now.
Grabbing his hair tie, he walked out into the lounge area and spotted Jinah who was sitting at the table, looking through a book.
“Morning.” Wuxian said, giving her a slight smile. She glanced up in surprise before her face lit up, grinning back.
“Wuxian Oppa! Morning, did you sleep well?” She asks, dropping the book onto the table and hopping up; going for the teakettle sitting on the stove.
“I slept alright, yourself?” He replied, inclining his head in thanks when she handed him a cup of tea.
She nodded, brightening a bit. “I did! Oh that reminds me, I found some good channels for you to watch later to catch yourself up so Oppa doesn’t have to try and explain everything.”
Wuxian paused as he took a sip of tea, brows going up slightly. Smiling a little, he glances over at her to see she’s shoving a few books in her bag.
“Thanks, Jinah.” His voice is quiet, but… thankful for the thought put into it - even if it hadn’t been asked for; he definitely needed to do some research.
She gives him a bright smile, cheeks flushing gently. Jinwoo walks out, ruffling a towel through his hair and notices the looks between the two and arches a brow.
“Am I interrupting?” He teases, lips quirked up in amusement. Jinah splutters, cheeks going rosy as she throws a slice of toast at him.
“I was just telling him I found some good channels online to research!” Huffing, she crosses her arms over her chest and looks away but not before catching the snicker coming from Wuxian which makes her giggle in response.
He catches the slice of toast and takes a bite, eyes shooting over to see Wuxian grinning behind his mug. The sight of him smiling is a much better look than him crying, a man born with a smile on his lips should never be scared to be who they are.
“Should eat and then head over.” Jinwoo recalls, taking another bite of the toast. Wuxian perks up slightly but nods, laughing a bit as Jinah starts complaining loudly about her toast.
Tossing an apple at Jinah, Jinwoo grabs his keys and phone, slipping them into his pockets before nodding towards the door. “We’ll stop on the way for something.” Which has Jinah perking right up with a smile, bag in her hands and nearly skipping for the door.
“Too easy~” Wuxian hums, dodging past Jinwoo who arches a brow at him, lunging for him and causing him to laugh even louder.
That kiss had changed things, and there was really only one way to go from here - right?
