Party

Summary:

Cazzie hovered over the message for a few minutes– maybe even an hour. Fin didn’t exactly know if he was the best person to invite to go, he seemed so stuck up and proper. Lyriza wasn’t able to come, at least early on into the party. Maybe later, but you still wanted to have someone you partially knew to come in case there wasn’t anyone you knew there. He was probably safe enough right?

Notes:

uwa. first ao3 post because it kind of met my mark for a short? i don’t know exactly? hi im a learner i don’t know what im doing . there’s definitely overusage of pronoun starters.

if the usage of fin feels messy fem troll uses fin/fins and im still navigating that. does that make sense.? replaces she/her usage . a violet car is mentioned but we do not believe it would really exist.

Fin hovered fin’s finger over the send button, hesitating(good) before quickly pressing the send button and shutting the palmhusk off as fin waited for a reply. He… replied surprisingly fast.

CS: I’ll Participate. Is there a Dress Code?
CH: yaay!! No dress code, i!t’s not aanythi!ng faancy.

Cazzie felt a wave of an unsteady relief wash over fin. It wasn’t the best option but it worked out for fin. Fin hoped, at least.

CS: What Time is this Event at?
CH: 5PM. The traai!n i!s aalmost aa requi!rment to get there from where we aare.

CH: …!i
CH: Youu aalso maake aa faai!r poi!nt.

There was an. Uncomfortable silence as Astari followed Cazzie to the venue. Fin had tried to start small talk a few times but was spooked out of it— he looked so… fin couldn’t find an exact word. Analytical? Serious? Scary? There was probably a word for that, it just wasn’t in fin’s vocabulary at the time.

Astari didn’t like how he had to be much slower in his stride than the small seadweller, otherwise he’d lose fin. Maybe (Hopefully, god did he hope.), fin was a quiet drunk, and the trip back home would be a breeze. Or someone else would come around and he could slip away onto an early train back. He just needed to make an appearance with fin, get in the good graces of the no-bodies there for being the plus one of a violetblood– there couldn’t be much after that… maybe except a drink or two.

The drinks had only made the violetblood a little clingier, unfortunately. Cazzie had come back to the jade-teal car, clearly anxious about something, but wouldn’t say what it was. Fin, thankfully, seemed quiet and withdrawn all the same, and sat on the floor, resting fin’s head against the hard, uncomfortable material of the jade-teal car’s seats. Astari sat on the other end of the bench fin had fins head lying on, mumbling nothings to himself and occasionally staring at the violetblood, nose scrunched up with some sort of emotion— fin figured negative.

He audibly scooted closer, Cazzie picking up fins head as the sound took fin out from drifting asleep. Astari leaned down to talk to fin, the jade in his eyes bore into fin’s uncomfortably as he spoke, “Say, why did you Invite Me. you’re already in High Standing,” Cazzie visibly got a little bit more hurt as he continued, “so what? Do you have Ulterior Motives? What’s your Reason?” Astari spat, staring down at fin. His face returned to its cold and flat neutral too fast for fin to really process his expression.

“I! Juust– di!dn’t waant to go aalone,” fin tucked into finself as fin looked away from the jadeblood, “... youu were my fi!rst choi!ce– after Lyri!zaa, of couurse, so second choi!ce, on thaat techni!caali!ty.” Astari sat up, face scrunched with a sort of furious bewilderment. Fin’s fins pinned back, discomforted, but not exactly dissuaded from continuing the conversation– fin would just have to try to push it into more of a… positive direction finself. His face contorted back to its neutral, and he sighed, audibly angry, “Second choice Behind Pageant Queen.. Alright. Why not Just Ask her then? Seems like she has all the Freetime on this damn planet to do so.”

“Decli!ned, I!’m not goi!ng to puush her to maake aapperaances she doesn’t waant or need to maake.”

Astari bit the side of his cheek to keep his face from displaying his anger down at the violetblood again, his tongue picking up the taste of his own blood. “That’s it? That's her Reason?” He hissed, sitting up, “Does she not Understand the Importance of Appearances? How does she Expect to Take the Throne in good favor if she Wins?”

Cazzie just shrugged at his questions, “I!’t’s not aany of my buusi!ness–”
“It Should be. She Left you High and Dry as well.”
“No, she di!dn’t, she haad her reaasons–”
“Bullshit Reasons”
“Thaat I! uunderstaand i!n eaarnest–”
“Do You? Do You Really?”

Cazzie scrunched fins nose as she started to reply back in anger, fins flared. The jadeblood seemed a little caught off guard by the unexpected tone fin took, recoiling back a little bit.

…The edges of his mouth came up just a little to form a crude smile as he got some fight out of the lapdog. It might’ve not been much, but fin was known for only biting once.

“I! daamn well know thaat her reasons aare uunderstaandaable aand vaali!d to haave. I!’m not so suure abouut thi!s buut I!’m pretty daamn suure youu don’t haave grouunds to speaak on.”
“You Invited me, I’ve got enough Grounds to Speak My Mind here.”

The violetblood huffed as he pointed out the flaw in fins argument, taking the few seconds of silence fin got to cool off. Fin did invite him. It’d be rude to disagree with that.

“Do You Regret inviting me? Did You want Your Night to Go this Way?”

“I! di!dn’t waant i!t to end i!n a stuui!pi!d aarguument, no.”

Astari let his face get smug, before it faltered as fin continued,

“Buut I! don’t regret i!nvi!ti!ng youu i!n the sli!ghtest. Youu’re aa li!ttle wei!rd buut youu’re….. Decent compaany.”

The jadeblood stared at the small violetblood with just, bewilderment, at this point. He stayed silent as fin tucked her face into fins arms and shut fins eyes, not sleepy, but more in exhaustion.

Cazzie had still regarded him with some sort of kindness— He scoffed and looked away from fin, staring at the bland jade carpet on the car's floor. Both of their heads hurt, the alcohol itself not agreeing with either of them.

Fin got back to fin’s hive safely, taking fins jacket off and sitting infront of fins shelltop, both to set up sleep music and to check fins messages. Nothing important stood out to fin, so fin started to search for one of fin's playlists…

…Cazzie bit fins lip as fin opened up fins messages with Astari, the jadeblood being idle now.

Fin shut fin’s shelltop, the music gentle as fin climbed into fin’s open recuperacoon.

Tonight was an ok night.
