Chapter Text
“Aoi, can you stop fussing? You’re walking down the aisle first and we’re on a tight schedule.”
Aoi frowns as he twists and turns in front of the mirror, over-analysing his appearance. He doesn’t want a single hair out of place. Today has to be perfect.
Ruki huffs behind him. “You look fine. Great, even. Beautiful! Now can we hurry up and move? The guests have all been seated for over ten minutes now.”
He fidgets with his sleeves anxiously, turning his head this way and that to make sure his hair is tied back correctly. When he and Uruha had decided on wedding outfits, they agreed on dressing very similarly to the stage outfits from the fifteenth anniversary. That date was special, for a lot of reasons.
That was the day Aoi realised he was well and truly in love with him.
Ruki had spoken to their costuming team about making the outfits again, but with much subtler details. Not nearly as many militaristic themes or black accessories. Aoi had to admit they’d done an incredible job. He looked much more princely in this than before. Uruha had been insistent on keeping the redesigns a secret from each other, so he has no idea how the other man is going to look.
Behind him, Ruki presses against the earpiece he’s wearing. “Yes, we’re coming. Tell everyone the wedding is about to begin. Aoi’s walking out in two minutes.”
Aoi whips around in fear, ready to ask for another five. Ruki rolls his eyes playfully and steps forward with a soft smile, smoothing out the shoulders of Aoi’s jacket.
“Let’s not keep the best day of your life waiting any longer.”

“You don’t seem that nervous.”
Uruha smiles, relaxing into his seat as the stylists work on his hair. “I’m not.”
Reita nods, seemingly impressed. “Aoi is probably shitting himself.”
“Probably,” Uruha agrees, expression fond. “That’s why I told Ruki to go and check on him. He’ll be stressing out about wanting everything to go off without a hitch.”
“Wouldn’t be us if we didn’t have technical difficulties sometimes, would it?” Reita chuckles. “Anyway, it’s going to be great. Who knew when we first became friends that I’d be your Best Man one day while you marry our bandmate?”
“Reita, if your goal is to make me start crying before I’ve even had my makeup done, I’m gonna need you to stop.”
Reita holds his hands up defensively. “Okay, okay, stopping!”

“Aoi walking,” Ruki says quietly into his earpiece as he watches the black-haired man walk down the aisle, smiling bashfully at the guests on both sides before reaching the front where Kai is waiting. Ruki sneaks around the side and approaches both.
Kai smiles like a proud mother in Aoi’s direction before turning to Ruki, quietly whispering. “Are you really sure it was a good idea to get me to officiate this?”
“You’re asking this now?” Ruki whispers back harshly. “Kai, I made you do that celebrant course because I knew you’d be good at it. Besides, it doesn’t make sense for it to be a complete stranger. We’re the ones who’ve had to watch them pine over each other for two decades, we’re the ones making sure this wedding is perfect.”
Kai chuckles. “I guess you’re right.”
Ruki’s earpiece sparks to life and he nods at Kai. “Look alive, Uruha’s coming.”

Uruha walks side by side with Reita as they approach the ceremony room, stopping just short of the door and grabbing Reita’s arm. “Hey, just a second.”
“What is it?”
Uruha offers him a warm, appreciative smile. “Just wanted to say thank you for doing this with me, that’s all.”
Reita stares at him in silence for a few seconds before clearing his throat. “Uruha, if your goal is to make me start crying, I’m gonna need you to stop.”
“Sorry,” Uruha laughs, squeezing Reita’s arm both in apology and gratitude. “Come on, your time to shine.”
Reita flashes him a childlike grin before rounding the corner and entering the ceremony. Uruha takes a deep breath to calm himself as he waits for his turn, more out of excitement than anxiety. The staff member watching the procession from outside nods at him to enter.
Uruha keeps his eyes to the floor as he enters the room, partly terrified at the idea of tripping over his skirt or stumbling in his heeled boots. When he reaches the back row of guests, he finally lifts his eyes to look at Aoi.
The black-haired man’s chin is already quivering, eyes brimming with unreleased tears as he watches Uruha walk down the aisle towards him. Uruha can’t help the laugh that bursts out of him when he sees the look on Aoi’s face, though his own eyes begin to water and sting. He can see Reita filming on his phone as he stands up the front, very clearly zooming in on Aoi’s face.
Aoi holds his hand out when Uruha gets closer, and he accepts the offer.
“You look beautiful,” Aoi croaks out, barely even managing a whisper as he takes both of Uruha’s hands in his. Uruha laughs again, beaming as he squeezes Aoi’s hands to say thank you. He’s sure if he tries to verbalise it, he’ll just end up crying too.
Ruki smiles on proudly behind Aoi before nodding at Kai to begin.
Kai grins at them both before turning his attention to the guests. “Are we ready?”

The ceremony, predictably, runs perfectly without a single issue.
Well, Aoi did struggle to finish his vows through his tears, but he got there in the end.
When the ceremony was finished and Kai told them to kiss, Aoi felt like he’d been transported back to that moment during their fifteenth anniversary concert, where he’d leaned forward and kissed Uruha’s forehead. He still believes that was his first practice run, his first piece of preparation for this moment.
He doesn’t remember who moved first, all he knows is that his hands found Uruha’s waist and Uruha cradled his face as their lips connected, surrounded by the cheers of their families, friends and bandmates.
Wedding photos were completed while the staff at the venue prepared the reception area, ushering guests out of the ceremony room so that the photos could happen in peace. Of course, band photos of the five of them were essential.
Ruki skips off quickly after the photos are done, already beelining to the reception as he tells whoever is on the other end to prepare Aoi and Uruha’s drinks for when they enter.
“I can’t wait for you to watch the video I took,” Reita jabs playfully as he slings an arm over Aoi’s shoulders.
“Bet you zoomed in on my dumb snotty face,” Aoi pouts.
“Obviously.”
“Make sure you send it to me too,” Uruha grins. “So I can send it to him when I want to tease him.”
“It was a really nice ceremony, wasn’t it?” Kai smiles. “Now you get to enjoy the fun part of the night. And yes, Ruki made sure to set up the laptop with your reception playlist going.”
“He did pick the reception playlist, right?” Aoi asks. “And not the uh, nefarious nighttime activities one?”
“Gross,” Reita fake retches. “Come on Kai, we need to go. You need to prepare to announce the arrival of the happy couple and I need to go over my Best Man speech.”
Uruha laughs as the rhythm team leaves the room, leaning into Aoi and whispering into his ear. “We can make use of the other playlist tonight.”
Aoi giggles with him, wrapping an arm around Uruha’s waist and leading him out of the room.

“Uruha’s glass is getting empty,” Ruki says into his earpiece as he wanders through the reception, “prepare him another wine and get it to him please.”
“Ruki,” Reita chides as he approaches the vocalist. “You know you can relax, right? All the tricky parts are done, it’s just a party now.”
“I know, I just want to make sure they’re enjoying it,” Ruki responds, watching Aoi and Uruha interact with the other guests. “This has been such a long time coming.”
“Didn’t think we’d ever see them get there, did we?” Reita chuckles.
“Are we talking about the newlyweds?” Kai asks, approaching his bandmates and taking a swig of his beer. “God, I really thought they were going to dance around each other for another three decades.”
“Forcing them into sharing the same hotel room every time we toured after Dogma really was the best idea.” Reita nods.
“I try not to think too hard about why they were always tired the next day,” the leader mumbles.
“Gross,” Ruki and Reita respond in unison.

Uruha spends much of the early part of the night mingling with their guests, chatting and laughing with everyone he holds dear. He’s impressed with how attentive the staff are, always making sure his drink is full and that he gets the first offer of all the finger food being brought out.
He’s sure that’s Ruki’s doing, but part of him suspects Aoi has something to do with it too.
His eyes search through the crowd around him, finding Aoi without much issue. He watches Aoi smile and laugh with his family and friends, a fond smile breaking out on his face without him realising. He finds himself unable to look away.
Eventually, Aoi’s eyes find him too. From across the room, Aoi smiles softly at him, his gaze loving and tender.
The sound of a microphone being tapped echoes out of the speakers. Uruha looks over to see Reita standing by the dancefloor.
“I’m hoping everyone will join me in inviting the newly married couple up to the dancefloor for their first dance.”
Cheers erupt in seconds, and Uruha laughs as his nephews excitedly pull him out of his seat and lead him to the dancefloor where Aoi is waiting. Aoi smiles and playfully bows in a prince-like manner, one hand behind his back and the other resting against his chest.
No one here needs to know they both took dance classes to learn how to do this. They might both have great rhythm, but dance step coordination was a different beast entirely.
Uruha drapes his arms over Aoi’s shoulders and lets himself be pulled close as the first notes of Moment flow out of the speakers.
He rests his forehead against Aoi’s as they sway together, their own band’s song enveloping them while they dance. Ruki had offered to perform it live, but they had both politely turned him down. “If you perform it, we’re both going to want to get up there and play the guitar to ensure it all sounds right,” Aoi had explained.
Uruha smiles to himself as he listens to the sound of their acoustic guitars together, complementing each other in perfect harmony.
“Hey,” Aoi whispers, staring deeply into Uruha’s eyes as they dance, the crowd around them long since forgotten. “I love you.”
Uruha smiles wide, bumping their noses together. “I love you too.”
They continue to dance as Ruki’s lyrics fill the room.
We now live endlessly, through these imperfect days
I have hope that the dreams only we shared
Will one day cradle your everything
