Or…

Theo and Blaise convince Pansy to use Wander, and things decidedly do not go right...

Work Text:

Pansy was unimpressed to say the least. She had been sitting in this uncomfortable chair at this sticky table for nearly forty minutes now, waiting for her date to appear. She’d met the tardy bastard on that bloody new dating service…Wander?

In hindsight, she should’ve realized it would be a bloody mess, seeing as Theo and Blaise were the ones who insisted it would be a success, or at the very least, a good time while it lasts.

But from where Pansy is seated, it has neither been a good time or a success.

And the bloody music was blaring just above her head, Merlin, she could barely hear herself inwardly curse the men in her life.

“Is this seat taken?”

Pansy looked up to see a tall man with broad shoulders and a trim waist, a head full of dark curls, and a smirk that could probably vanish the knickers right off of her.

“Depends, are you the dipshit who was supposed to be here forty…” Pansy glanced down at her watch, “Three minutes ago?”

The man cocked a brow at her.

“Definitely not. No way in hell would I make a pretty little thing like you wait for even a second.” He winked.

Pansy rolled her eyes at his excessive charm but ultimately waved her hand dismissively towards the empty seat across from her.

“Sure, go ahead and knock yourself out, but you best know you’ll be the one paying my tab, and I am not cheap .”

He smirked sinfully.

“I wouldn’t expect anything less, Darling.”

Five rounds of whiskey and tequila later, neither of them was exactly sober.

“And that’s how I ended up in this hellhole, with the sticky tables and the loud, stupid music. All because my best friends thought I needed to get laid.” Pansy practically slurred, leaning heavily on the man who had, at some point between rounds two and four, moved his chair to her side of the table to get closer.

“That’s a shame, a gorgeous little thing like you should never be the one chasing men, they should be falling at your feet begging for your time.”

“Apparently, I’m too abrasive , too independent , too impetuous . Too much .”

“Fuck whoever said any of those things to you, those are excellent qualities to find in a partner. And you are not too much, you are just enough .”

Pansy stared, slack-jawed, at the man sitting beside her. How the fuck did he know the exact right things to say?

“Are you real?”

And now Pansy wanted to disappear into the ground for opening her damn mouth without thinking. He chuckled fondly.

“I’m real, Darling, and I’ve enjoyed this night with you. And yes, I would love to continue our night together, but I don’t fancy doing anything else while you’re this smashed, I am all about consent.

“So why don’t we exchange numbers, and I can call you tomorrow afternoon, once our respective hangovers have hopefully receded, and we can make plans to meet again, how does that sound?’

“Sure, just…I don’t even know my name—I mean your name! I don’t even know your name.”

“Sirius Black.”

Reality hit Pansy like a bucket of ice water over the head.

“You bloody arse !” She screeched, smacking his arm with her handbag. “You’re the bloody prick that nearly stood me up!”

“Ahh! Watch it! I bruise easy!” He cried.

“I waited forty minutes for you!”

“I’m sorry, I was nervous!!”

Nervous?!

“Okay, okay, ok-hey! That’s enough!” He growled, grabbing the handbag and setting it beside him, and restraining both of her wrists with his other, large hand.

“I sat right over there at the bar for an hour before we were supposed to meet, to buck up the courage to approach you when you arrived. And then you walked in wearing this hot little number and with that blase little attitude and it set my fucking bones to flames.

“Trust me, I didn’t want to make you wait, but damn, you were worth my wait.

“So please… Pansy , give me another chance. Let me take you out again. Properly . I’ll wine and dine you at the most exclusive restaurant in London, and then you can decide if I’m worth it too, yes?”

He waited with bated breath as she stared blankly ahead, before she finally sighed and acquiesced.

“Fine, you can wine and dine me at the bougiest restaurant in London.” She glared challengingly at him. “But I swear to every deity above, Sirius, if you’re even a second late next time, I’ll string you up by your gonads”

He cackled loudly; several other guests stared incredulously.

“Fair fucking enough, Darling.

“I may have nearly let our First Date go wrong, but you can bet your bloody pert arse I won’t let a second end in anything less than passionate flames.”
