Chapter Text
It had just turned lunch time, and everyone was getting out of their classes. Sonic had just finished Chemistry and was putting things away in his locker, minding his own business and was deep in his thoughts.
Then, someone slammed his locker shut.
Startled by this, Sonic turned to his left to see an angry Shadow staring him down. “Are you fucking serious Sonic?! Why would you do that to Sally!” He would say, raising his voice.
Sonic looked at him confused, and raised his eyebrow. “Uhm, Shadow. What are you talking about? I haven’t even seen her all day..” He would state, folding his arms across his chest.
“Oh cut the bullshit and don’t lie to me you damn faker.” Shadow would suddenly shove Sonic into the locker. Sonic got a little nervous, and a light blush of embarrassment slowly formed on his face.
Oh god he really is pissed! What did Sally lie about this time?..
“Shadow, I’m being serious here. I’m not lying! I swear I haven’t done anything to her!” He responded, a face of annoyance appeared on his face. “Sonic I swear to fucking god.” He lifted his finger up and pointed his finger close to Sonic’s face.
“Then tell me why she came up to me bursting with tears saying you decided to beat her up?! She was covered in bruises.” Shadow spat, growing more angry by the second.
“Oh my god Shadow.” Sonic would sigh heavily. “When will you realise that not everything she says is true? Wake up damnit! You really think I would go around beating girls like that?!” Sonic raised his voice, his voice echoed throughout the hallway..People would stop what they were doing and would stare at Sonic and Shadow.
“We’ve known each other for years, you’ve only known Sally since the start of senior year. And you would really choose to believe her over me?” Sonic’s tone had changed a little, he sounded a little more sad.
Shadow was stunned and surprised, he didn’t know what to do or say. So he stood there in silence. “I don’t even recognise who you are anymore.” Sonic would mumble, speaking in a clear tone of disappointment. Sonic would look at Shadow with pure disgust, then push him out of his way.
And he walked away, not daring to look back and not waste anymore time on Shadow.
Present day
“I know we weren’t the best of friends..but I liked..no..” Sonic would sigh a little, taking a sip of water.”I..loved him you know? Sally changed him for the worse..and to think the last interaction we had was that argument, hurts.” Sonic would frown.
Amy would stare at the floor, a frown forming on her face. “How come you never said anything?” Amy would ask, turning her face to look up at Sonic.
“I..don’t know, I kinda decided to keep it to myself..” Sonic would scratch his neck a little bit, then lay down on the decking. He would look up at the sky, then close his eyes.
Amy would make a small humming sound, she would fold her arms and look at the floor. “You still think he’s alive, don’t you.” She would then turn her head to look at him, she could see he nodded his head a little.
“Yeah..I do..not just him, but all of our friends of course. Especially Tails and Knuckles, I miss those two like crazy.” Sonic would sit up, he was pouting.
Amy would just laugh. “Trust me, I know you do.” She would say, then stand up and dust herself off. “Gonna go inside and prepare dinner, if you head out make sure to be careful.” She spoke with a scolding tone, this particular scenario seemed like it was a mother scolding her son.
Sonic would smirk. “No promises~” Amy would roll her eyes and walk inside of the tree house, Sonic would climb down the ladder and jump off from the last few steps.
Then, he headed off.
2 hours later
Sonic had been wandering around, killing a few of the undead along the way.
He came across a river, a river that had a few of the undead travelling through the water or falling over on nothing. Sonic’s eyes looked around the river, he counted about..5 undead. “Should be a piece of cake.” He would mumble.
Sonic would throw his knife directly through a walker's head, right where it kills them instantly. The sharp blade had cut through the skull nice and clean, the walker would fall down instantly.
The undead that had just been killed had caught the attention of the other zombies, Sonic didn’t really pay any attention to them. He would walk up to the dead corpse and pull his knife out of the skull.
Another walker had caught up to Sonic, and lunged forward at him. Luckily, Sonic had managed to dodge the attack. “Shit, that was close!” He exclaimed, ready to kill the rest of these zombies.
Back with Amy
Amy was preparing dinner, nothing special. Just some eggs with a bit of salt and pepper, and some canned fruit that was still in date.
Amy had surprisingly adjusted to this new world, but definitely not comfortable with it. She would reach into her pocket, and pull out a picture. It was a picture of herself and her boyfriend; Liam.
Amy would sigh.”Miss you every day my love.”She gave a quick peck to the picture, a small smile crept up onto her face. She would fold the picture carefully and put it back into her pocket.
Then, she heard a sound. But it wasn’t the signal herself and Sonic had always used.
Alarmed by this, Amy would walk slowly towards the entrance of the house. She held her bat close to her body, she was cautious that there could be danger waiting for her outside.
She made it onto the decking, there was a sound of creaking, it sounded like someone was climbing up the ladder.
Amy was ready to attack whomever was climbing up, she stood her ground, waiting…
The person had climbed up the ladder, and lifted themselves onto the decking of the tree house. Amy couldn’t see the person's face, and without a second thought she swung the bat with a powerful force at this mysterious person, and had managed to knock them out.
The person had collapsed onto the floor, face first. Amy would carefully walk towards the fallen body, and would tap their waist with her bat. They were knocked out cold.
With a sigh of relief, Amy would bend down. She would turn over the knocked out person, so they were now laying on their back.
She would gasp. “Oh my god..Knuckles?!” A wave of guilt rushed throughout her body, but she remained calm. And instead of panicking, she would lift both of his feet up and slowly pull him inside of the tree house and close the door.
Once she had managed to get him inside, Amy would place down his feet carefully onto the floor, and would use all of her strength to lift him up and place him down onto the couch.
Amy would observe him, he looked a little more tanned than what she had remembered. He had tattoos along his arms, they were pretty cool looking. There were a lot of scars around his body, he wasn’t wearing a shirt.
There were some open wounds, they didn’t seem too serious. Nothing like a zombie bite or scratch, she would sigh with relief. “Let’s get you bandaged up.” She would mumble to herself, walking back to the small kitchen and would look through the cabinets for a med kit.
An hour later
Sonic had just returned to the tree house, his clothes were covered in blood. Whatever blood was on his face or arms had been washed away earlier.
He had given the signal, letting Amy know he had returned back safely. He’d climb up the ladder, and lift himself up onto the decking.
“Hey Ames, I’m back. I managed to find more food, somehow.” He would laugh a bit, then walked towards the front door of the tree house and opened it slowly.
He wasn’t prepared for what he was about to see, however.
He would drop his bag that he had been carrying around, he had a shocked expression on his face. “Knuckles?!”
