baby take your time, what’s the rush?

Summary:

“I call you an idiot and suddenly you want to kiss me?” Pedri teases, his hair falling across his forehead in a way that made him look decades younger. Or maybe it was his smile, Gavi could never tell.

“No,” Gavi huffs, already smiling. “I want to kiss you all the time.”

Work Text:

The sun seeps into the room like blotted colours swirling in water, warm and musky as specks of dust dance in slow bursts where the light shines brightest. Sheets tangle and sweat threatens to perspire but it goes unnoticed as Pedri’s lips move slow and sticky against Gavi’s mouth, a hand tracing over the younger’s jaw as he breathes out contentedly into Gavi’s cheek. Gavi responds with equal laziness, pulling Pedri over his bare chest as he nips unhurriedly at the elder’s bottom lip.

They separate only when Pedri sighs and lifts his head to check the time on his phone, letting an undeterred Gavi continue kissing down across his jaw and into the softer flesh of his throat.

“Training,” Pedri mumbles nonsensically, bumping his nose into Gavi’s as the younger attempts to reattach their lips. “We have to go.”

“Not for another hour,” Gavi grumbles lazily, licking a lazy stripe from the base of Pedri’s neck to where stubble was beginning to scratch at his chin.

“I don’t like being late,” Pedri sighs, but tucks a thigh over Gavi’s waist anyway.

“I’ll be quick,” Gavi insists, and Pedri would believe him, if only if it weren’t for how slow Gavi tended to be in the mornings.

“Flick will kill us.”

“No he won’t,” Gavi refutes immediately, licking sensually over Pedri’s clavicle. “At least not you. You’re his favourite.”

Pedri snorts, his fingers burying themselves in the sparse hairs along the back of Gavi’s head. “He likes you too,” kissing firmly into the lines of Gavi’s forehead, as though to affirm his words.

“Not as much as you,” Gavi teases, a small smile pulling at the corners of his lips. “Perfect Pedri who can do no wrong,” he mutters in an intentionally derisive tone, his eyes darting upwards to catch Pedri’s reaction as he kisses a long line down to Pedri’s nipple.

“Well, he’s right. And he’s your boss, wouldn’t hurt to listen,” he mumbles amusedly, arching his chest up to meet Gavi’s lips as the younger’s hands squeeze almost hesitantly into the flesh of his ass.

“I do listen,” Gavi huffs, pushing Pedri’s nightshirt up his shoulders. “Just not to that.”

“Why not?”

“Because I already know that.”

Pedri doesn’t even have the time to blush because Gavi’s already racing upwards, planting soft lips over soft lips and funneling his mind back to where he wants it, back to Gavi. It’s intoxicating. But if Pedri’s anything, it’s disciplined. He pulls back before he’s drawn too far in and places a tender kiss to Gavi’s cheek. He doesn’t even have to speak the words, because Gavi’s already sighing, the outlines of a pout taking shape on his lips. Pedri laughs, soft and fond and amused.

“Tonight,” he promises.

Gavi’s hands squeeze his ass warningly. “Okay.”

And Pedri presses one last kiss to his waiting lips before tossing the covers off himself and padding over to the bathroom.

***

Afternoon creeps up on them like goosebumps on skin, dim and breezy as Pedri sighs and toes off his shoes, setting his bag down on the counter top as he passes. Gavi had already arrived home ten minutes prior and Pedri sometimes has to wonder how the younger managed to get his license at all. He walks into the bedroom with a long yawn bursting out his lips, limbs heavy and aching as he shucks off his jeans and reaches for a soft pair of shorts. He hazards a sniff before he pulls them over his legs, wary that Gavi tends to throw things back in the wardrobe to avoid doing the laundry. A warm hand presses into his lower back as he pulls the shorts up, a soft pair of lips meeting his jaw a moment later as a muttered voice says, “took you long enough.”

Gavi walks slowly over to the bed and falls limply into the mattress before Pedri can respond, tossing one ankle comfortably over the other as he pulls out his phone and plants his chin on his chest.

“How haven’t you had a speeding ticket yet?” Pedri mumbles, pulling off his hoodie and reaching for a T-shirt next.

“Because I know where not to speed,” Gavi returns easily and Pedri snorts, smoothing the T-shirt down over his stomach.

“You’re not supposed to speed anywhere,” he mumbles, walking around the bed to lay down in the empty spot beside Gavi and pull out his own phone.

“No fun in that.”

They scroll in silence until Gavi inevitably concedes to his boredom, his thumb stalling mid-scroll to let his phone fall forwards onto his chest as he tilts his head towards Pedri, cheek squishing slightly against the pillow. Pedri doesn’t notice as the younger stares, too busy replying to some illegible message Ferran had sent with his brows furrowed and his lip bitten, until Gavi groans, long and burdened, and throws an arm over Pedri’s waist.

Pedri twitches, his phone nearly slipping from his grasp.  “What?”

“I’m bored,” Gavi whines, dragging the word out like it’s causing him physical pain. He grasps Pedri’s phone firmly in his fist and yanks it away before the elder can react, setting it down on the bedside table beside him as the elder stares at his now empty hand. “Entertain me.”

Pedri groans, rubbing his eyes gently. “Since when were you this high maintenance?”

“Since I realised you never say no,” Gavi says without missing a beat, tightening his arm over Pedri’s waist and pushing his nose intrusively into the sliver of space between the elder’s shoulder and neck. “Come on. Do something.”

Pedri sniffs impatiently. “What, like dance?”

Gavi grins, all teeth and charm. “Are you offering?”

“Pass,” Pedri huffs, tucking an arm beneath his head and securing the other around Gavi’s shoulders. “You entertain me.”

Gavi hums, the arm around Pedri’s waist digging beneath the elder’s body, welcoming the warmth now that the setting sun was casting long shadows across their bedroom. “I do remember you making a promise this morning.”

He feels Pedri breathe out a laugh, the elder’s fingers slipping gently beneath the cotton of his sleeve. “What, now?”

“No, next year,” Gavi rolls his eyes.

“But I’m tired,” Pedri protests lazily, a yawn cutting through his sentence. He was being dramatic, Gavi could tell because he didn’t sound particularly upset, just honest.

Gavi hums again, but this time it sings high and long enough to constitute a whine. “So you don’t keep promises now?”

“You’re talking like you’re not about to fall asleep right now.”

“I’m not,” Gavi murmurs, but his eyes are closed and he’s planted firmly in the crook of Pedri’s neck, a leg creeping up to rest over Pedri’s thighs as he effectively traps the elder in place. Pedri barely reacts, just cards his fingers through Gavi’s hair and stares up at the ceiling. He turns his head and presses a kiss gently into Gavi’s forehead.

Time slipped by in that fuzzy golden way it does when you have no thoughts of tomorrow; nowhere else to go, no one else to see. Gavi’s breath had evened out somewhere in the haze, his fingers still tucked neatly beneath Pedri’s body like an anchor, a tether. Pedri hadn’t even realised he was still awake, blinking at the ceiling for so long that conscious and subconscious had melded together into one long dream, Gavi’s weight over him firm and comforting. He spares a glance, a yawn bursting out his lips as he turns to drift his eyes over the younger’s face, over the shadows his lashes dusted across his cheeks, over the way his mouth parted and made him look almost as though he was in thought.

“I can tell you’re staring,” Gavi murmurs suddenly, startling Pedri slightly. His voice sounds raspy and sleep ridden, but unbearably fond all the same.

“How’d you know?” Pedri asks, sounding mildly impressed.

“Dunno, I can tell.” Gavi’s eyes part open, blinking against the brightness of the setting sun as he groans and shifts further onto his stomach. “What’d you want?”

“Who says I want anything?”

“Why’re you staring then?”

Pedri huffs, his cheeks dusting slightly pink. “Maybe you’re just pretty.”

Gavi snorts, his eyes drifting up to meet Pedri’s in amused disbelief. “You’re an idiot when you’re tired.”

“You’re an idiot all the time.”

Pedri manages a sleepy giggle as Gavi pinches his side, flinching only slightly away from Gavi’s warm fingers. Gavi is grinning by the time Pedri looks down next and it’s an infectiously fond atmosphere that encompasses them as darkness falls and cold seeps into their embrace.

“C’mere,” Gavi mumbles gently, his voice thick and drowsy in all the right ways. He props himself up on an elbow, turning Pedri’s chin upward to draw their lips together, pausing only for a breath to watch the crooked grin stretch across Pedri’s lips.

Gavi catches Pedri’s flustered laugh with the press of his lips, slow and tender like sugar melting on the tongue. It lasts barely a few seconds, but Gavi pulls away still beaming, still sated.

Pedri bumps their noses together. “You’re such a sap.”

“And you kiss me anyway,” Gavi returns, tucking himself back into Pedri’s side.

“Don’t remind me.” It comes out gruff, but Gavi doesn’t miss the soft kiss that follows, pressed into his forehead like an apology too sweet to refuse.

Silence falls again, warmer still despite the cold that comes with the darkness, tender now that all their drowsy vision can afford are the gentle outlines of oscillating chests. And if Gavi kisses him once more before sleep pulls them both under, no one has to know. Quiet, sacred, theirs.
