Summary
Set in November 1403, a post-endgame story of Henry, Hans, and the whole Devil's Pack helping John Liechtenstein, who enacts his bold plan to free King Wenceslaus from captivity in Vienna and needs the mad crew to create diversions, while he avoids Sigismund's men, including groups of Von Bergow's loyalists. Henry struggles with noble schemes dragging him into the grinder again, wanting nothing more than to spend each day with Hans in the Den's barn. Meanwhile, Hans is blindsided by his brilliant plan to free the king and petition him for his inheritance, thus avoiding Hanush's trap and arranged marriage. Samuel wants to ride with Liechtenstein to Vienna, not yet knowing the full price of getting into nobles' games, and Liechtenstein... well, let's say, this story needed a proper villain. It’s gonna be a tale of conflicting interests, schemes, tragic situations without good solutions, and lots of emotional hurt. I cried writing it, so I hope you’ll cry reading it too.
(It’s set in the same timeline as my previous fic, "The Devil's Brew", but feel free to skip it if you want; this one is fully comprehensible on its own).
