Soyona shook her wrist out at Brooklynn, the loose cloth of her wide sleeve falling gracefully to her elbow, the golden band with the remote snug around her wrist and turned to look at her. "Yes. Not keeping her on a leash is a more… daring show of power than most would attempt. We will present as strong. Trust me, Brooklynn."
Brooklynn resisted the fierce urge to look away, which, in all honesty, may not have been her best decision, Soyona's gaze a deep and dark well she found herself tripping into, falling into headfirst with sickening vertigo. She was, for all intents and purposes, trapped, and completely unable to look away. "I do," Brooklynn told her in a voice that tumbled out like a murmur, soft and quiet and trembling.
And, to Brooklynn's abject horror, she found that she meant it.
