Work Text:

Paris, 1890

My dear, beloved Nicolò.

I only have one piece of paper left, which isn't enough to tell you how much I miss you, so instead, I want to use this paper to complain about something that is really bothering me.

This morning, when I arrived home, I opened the window to let in the fresh summer air, and that's when I saw something that has ruined the bedroom's view for good. It turned out that someone had given a man named Eiffel (I will learn his first name one day because I want to talk with him) permission to build a very tall, ugly tower right outside our bedroom windows in the middle of Paris. (Look at the drawing on the back side of this letter to see the tower).

I ask you, where is the beauty in that tower? Yes, I know that not every tower can look like the tower in Pisa or the one that was built in Alexandria, and yes, I know there is a construction error in one of them, and the other one burned down to the ground, but at least they are and were pleasing to the eye when you looked at them.

And I know what you would say if you were here, that every artist expresses themselves in their own way, me included, but I can tell you one thing: I would never place a very tall, ugly tower in the middle of Paris.

Okay, I am taking the deep breath I can hear you say I should take.

I just thought of a solution to get rid of the tower. If Eiffel doesn't tear his tower down after I have spoken with him, maybe I can ask Andy to destroy the tower, or maybe Booker will do it, because even though he doesn't know fine art when he sees it, he must, as a Frenchman, have an interest in destroying something...

Damn it, I am running out of paper to write on. By the time you have joined me in Paris, I will have come up with a plan to get rid of the very ugly tower.

I love you so much, Nicolò and I miss you, so please hurry home to me as fast as you can. Or else I will come and get you because summer in Paris isn't the same without you.

Love, Yusuf. And remember, I will always love you. Oh, one last thing. I will get more paper after posting this letter so that I can write you a love letter.
