Pin was addicting. Pencil refuses to admit that, even to herself, because she absolutely refuses to associate with Pin. But damn, she was a drug that she just couldn’t quit.
Pencil has tried her hardest to resist it- She really has! It’s Pin’s fault, she tells herself because Pin just can’t resist her! And honestly, who could? Sure, Pencil’s often the one tugging Pin into the Freesmart Supervan during a heated argument. Sure, Pencil’s usually the one pulling Pin on top of her. But that’s not her fault!
Pin doesn’t know how it keeps happening, either. Every time the two separate in the aftermath of their encounters, Pin always swears to herself that she’ll never let it happen again. Except it inevitably does. Over. And over, and over again.
Every petty argument she has now with Pin seems to end up with the two tangled up with each other, and it’s exhilarating . Both of them would rather be shot dead than be caught anywhere near each other, and here they were. They’ve had some close calls as is: Coiny nearly catching the two making out behind the HPRC, which ended with Pin brutally bludgeoning Pencil’s face against the hard metal of the device to play it off. Various Freesmart members noticing Pencil’s random disappearances after the challenges. They both know they shouldn’t be getting so physically close, yet the danger only adds to the thrill.
Today was another one of those days. Pencil can’t even bother to remember the exact cause of their argument this time. The only thing that mattered to her now was the girl on top of her, the arms around her neck, the way Pin’s lips confidently trail down her jaw to her neck. It’s a little cramped, the two of them together in the back seat of the Supervan, but they’ve played this game far too many times to care about things like that.
Pencil feels the sharp canines of Pin’s teeth scrape against her neck, and she promptly smacks the back of her head in warning. “ Hey, ” She hisses because she doesn’t trust Pin not to try and leave any marks on her- marks that would easily catch the attention of her alliance. Pin sits back up, her gaze sharp as she meets Pencil’s eyes again.
“You’re boring. ” Pin shot back with a frown. Pencil just rolls her eyes and pulls her back in, closing the gap between them again.
Neither is very good at paying attention to their surroundings, even when they know what’s at stake. Especially in the Supervan, because it’s not likely for anyone else in Freesmart to access the vehicle without Pencil’s permission. Or, at least, that’s what the two figured.
It’s so easy to get lost in each other like this, isolated from the rest of the world. It’s so much easier to pour out all of the hate and rage they harbor for each other through physicality- After all, there’s only so much their stupid arguments can resolve. It’s so easy to stop thinking, to focus solely on each other, the hands, the lips-
“Pencil? Are you in here? ”
The door to the van opens, and Pencil shoves Pin right off of her and to the floor without thinking twice, her hands wiping at her mouth to hopefully get rid of any of the evidence Pin’s lipstick might’ve left.
“Ow! What is wrong with- ” And then Pin notices the elephant in the room. It’s Ruby- Of course, it’s Ruby.
“Pencil, what are you doing with… her?!” Ruby points at Pin, visibly disgusted. Pin, always easily offended, sits up quickly at that.
“Hey- Ow! ” She opens her mouth to say more, but Pencil kicks her to shut her up.
“Ruby, ” Pencil scrambles to stand, approaching Ruby properly . “Ruby, you can’t tell anyone about this. We’ll keep it as… a fun little secret, okay? ” Pencil forces a smile, trying to appeal to the other.
“Okay, but… ” Ruby trails off, squinting up at the other. “Are you, like, okay? Did she hurt you? ” She asks. It’s not really surprising- Ruby’s never doubted Pencil a day in her life.
“No, yeah, I’m- I’m fine, ” Pencil reassures, awkwardly trying to push Ruby towards the door. “How about this- Let's go shopping together? My treat! ” To anyone else, it would be seen as an obvious distraction, even a bribe. But Ruby doesn’t seem to think twice, not when Pencil's the one offering.
“Okay! Let’s go! ” Pencil sighs, relieved that she’ll probably live another day without her whole alliance knowing what she’s been getting up to. She allows Ruby to pull her out of the van and along towards the abandoned Yoyle City, leaving behind a frustrated Pin on the floor of the Supervan.
“Stupid Pencil… ” Pin grumbles to herself, standing and brushing herself off. “Never again. ” She swears.
It’ll happen again, probably.
