The slight sound of the sparks coming out of the flame at the bonfire, alongside the soft whisper of the air pushing the leaves of the forest.
The flame was reflected in two pairs of metallic eyes, warming their bodies and feelings.
Both of them coming from two different worlds; one being surrounded by cold and the endless darkness of his destiny, while the other always being hugged by a bright warmth full of that endless way for new things to reach. Imagining it that way makes it feel like their current situation was a crash between both of their worlds, something that might sound terrifying at first, but by the way it gradually blends in the wild, makes it feel like it's something meant to be. Like their lives were meant to end up here at any moment.
“Heh… is a lovely night, isn't it?” The golden boy broke the calming silence between them, at which Silver seemed confused at first, but then smiled.
“You've been saying that since we started the bonfire.”
Gold just laughed, as he held the shoulder of his campaign companion.
“Just trying to spark the mood a little around here, don't be so rigid!”
The other one just hummed, as he lowered his view back to his partner. Without intending to, he looked intensely into the other eyes, being amazed by how the scorching flames combined so well with his golden eyes.
Gold automatically tensed up by this suffocating look, as he blushed slightly and mumbled “What's up with the big stare?”
“Nothing… You just look nice right now.”
“Now you're the one with the corny lines!” Gold exclaimed as he ruffled Silver's long hair, messing it more than it already was.
They laughed, one with more volume than the other, but that didn't change that they were spending such a comforting moment only with just the two of them. With gold messing up playfully with silver, while he just laughed without putting any resistance against him just by how used he already was to this.
Both of them ended up in a kinda uncomfortable hug with their arms in different places on their bodies, but they couldn't care less about it because of the joy they were having right now.
The giggles slowly fading out from the hearable sounds, only being left a dumb smile in both of their faces. Looking into each other's doors of their souls, just feeling like they were in a totally different place, one that both of them could call home without being exactly one.
Their faces got closer at a slow pace, the distance was getting tortuous at their feelings, but it was just a minimum of centimeters until… Burp.
Silver pushed gold back. “Ew, you're gross.”
“I got a little nervous!” Gold said while chuckling, it might have been just one of gold's pranks at the end, but by the way his heart was accelerating at the rhythm of a running rapidash, he could tell that it was the best to maintain his naturalness at the moment.
“Hm.” Was the only thing that came out of Silver's throat, as he placed his hands at the fresh grass they were sitting at and pushed his legs close to his torso.
Gold just looked at him with slight distress in his face, with the fear of having killed the mood of the night. He sighed as he settled down at the ground, with his elbow resting at the top of his knee, and fidgeted with the grass against the fingers of his left hand. With them slowly tapping closer to silver's right hand, until they have reached the hem of the glove of his partner.
“You know… I really like the shape of your hands, they look kinda elegant like to promote some rings in them.”
Silver eyed him, slightly confused by what were his intentions by saying that.
Gold just kept looking down at his hand, with that tiny intention of messing up with him, but also to light the mood they were in just a few minutes ago. “I haven't seen you without gloves for a long time… Can I?” Gold asked while putting firmness at the hem of the glove.
Silver, still silent, lowered his face and closed his eyes as he lifted up his hand in the air for Gold's reach.
Gold smiled widely, as he removed the glove out of the other's hand, having the view of a slender and poorly cared skin hand, all being extensively covered by the remains of a burnt mark. The slight embarrassment was noticeable on Silver's usually cold face, who just stared down at gold's hand movements.
“It looks bad, I know.”
“No, it doesn't. It has been healing compared to the last time you let me see…” He said as he passed the tips of his fingers on that rough surface of Silver's skin.
“Yeah, but in the end it will never go away.”
Gold smirked at those words and speaked in a playful but warm tone “Just as I.”
Gold's fingers moved from the back of silver's hand to his palm, to softly tie their fingers together.
“Take it more as a reminder of my existence to you than just some scar.”
Silver looked amused for a moment, until he reciprocated the touch and held tighter gold's hand to then smile. “You're way more painful than that burnt anyways.”
Gold just chuckled. The warmth emanating from gold's hand crashed abruptly into silver's dry and cold hand, but it wasn't such a problem for neither of them; because that's why metals are for, to conduct and share each other's warmth.
