Work Text:
“Have I told you that I love you today?” Izuku looked at the blonde, who was lying next to him in their bed and watching him.
They had just moved into the apartment that day, still fresh off graduation, and set up their new home. Some of their friends came by to help unpack in the morning, but they had left hours ago, and it was a few hours past Katsuki’s bedtime too.
Katsuki’s question caught him off guard, mainly because he had said those words more times than Izuku could count today. Every moment they had alone Katsuki would kiss his cheek or lips and whisper a soft ‘I Love You’ before going back to whatever they were doing. His warm hands always searching for his with practiced ease, a familiarity they'd learned.
Izuku always replied in kind, the words melting into his skin the more he heard them, printing the words into his heart and his voice into his ears. Even after how long they’ve been dating, hearing and seeing the softness from Katsuki still flusters him. Knowing that those sweet caresses and kind words were for him and him only. Knowing that Katsuki loved him just as much as Izuku loved him in turn.
Izuku giggled a little before reaching over, a scarred hand meeting a softened jaw, relaxed and pliant under Izuku’s fingers as always now. He kissed him slowly, letting them melt and mold into each other until he pulled away, his lips feeling empty already.
“You have, but I like hearing it.” Katsuki rolled his eyes but pulled the other closer, their bodies pressed together, unknowing of where one started and the other ended but that was how they liked it. Bodies completely molded and tailored for the other.
“I love you, Izuku.” Katsuki spoke quietly, their faces so close and noses almost brushing.
“I love you more.” Izuku whispered back, his thumb rubbing the boy’s cheek, the pad over the scar that lay there.
Katsuki grinned at the challenge, but he knew Izuku was wrong. Katsuki wasn’t even sure if ‘Love’ was a strong enough word for how Katsuki felt about him. Maybe obsession or devotion worked better.
Izuku was the reason he came back, even if not physically; he was Katsuki’s world and light. His moon and stars. If it came down to it, Katsuki world would give up the world if it meant being with Izuku. Finally, letting himself love Izuku was the best decision in his life.
“I don’t think that’s possible, Love.” Izuku felt the familiar warmth he’d grown accustomed to spread over him, the feeling of being wanted. Of being loved.
Katsuki’s eyes glazed over different feelings. Love, adoration, devotion. Izuku never expected anyone to love him this way, so unabashedly and loudly like Katsuki has.
Izuku wholeheartedly loves this man. Some days, he felt like he breathed just to love him and be loved by him. Katsuki was the piece that held him together when his days turned dark and Izuku hoped that he was able to keep him together in turn on Katsuki’s bad days.
Katsuki pulled him out of his musing with soft lips on his, a content sigh leaving him at the touch. He wrapped his arms around his boyfriend’s waist, pressing even closer to his body, not a single gap between them.
Izuku melted once more, eyes becoming watery at how loved and wanted he felt. Sometimes he didn’t think he deserved to feel this, but he knows Katsuki feels that way too. They had talked about it when they had started dating.
Katsuki had told him that he would love Izuku like he deserved, how he wanted to make Izuku feel loved everyday for the rest of their lives like he should’ve. Izuku had never once doubted that.
Katsuki had kept his promise ever since then, he made Izuku feel loved just by being in the same room as him.
Once they had pulled away, They just watched each other, re-admiring everything they had already committed to memory. Every freckle, mole, or scar recorded in both of their minds.
Izuku traced Katsuki’s scar on his face and memorized how his eyes looked staring at him, catching every emotion in them that Katsuki would throw his way. Katsuki counted the freckles littering Izuku’s face, finding a few new ones, reminding himself to recount all of them in the morning before Izuku woke up.
“I love you,” Izuku watched how Katsuki’s lips formed over those words again, his lips moving again before Izuku could respond.
“I adore you,” Izuku felt tears in his eyes at Katsuki’s new words, a single tear barely slipping out before it was kissed away by the blond, lingering on the skin for a few seconds more.
Izuku smiled even wider, Katsuki matching him and showing his dimple. Only Izuku ever saw it; Katsuki said it was because only he could make him that happy and smile like that. Izuku finds it to be true the more time they’re together.
“I love you too,” Izuku kissed his dimple, feeling the heat on the boy's cheek, “And I adore you too. More than you know.” Katsuki closed his eyes for a moment, just breathing in the moment, still scared that everyday was a dream and he’d wake up suddenly. But he never did.
They laid there together, limbs tangled in their own bed, in an apartment that was perfect. Everything was perfect because they were together. Neither could want more than that.
