Summary
“Natalie?” She’s wearing high-waisted, acid-washed jeans, a cropped blank tank top, a beige overcoat, and of course she recognizes Nat. “Why are you here?” She ambles toward her, smiling haphazardly.
Nat doesn’t mean to roll her eyes, but she does so anyway. It happens whenever she’s reminded of fucking Wiskayok, a habit she has no intent on correcting. “I work here, Lottie.”
“I go by Charlotte now,” the girl says, as if Nat actually cares. She sits on one of the redwood bar stools and leans in Nat’s direction.
“Yeah, okay,” Nat replies. “Whatever you say, Lottie.”
College dropout Natalie Scatorccio moves to rural Massachusetts to “find herself.” Of all the people she thought she’d run into at her bartending job, Lottie Matthews was last on the list.
