    Friends and family regularly compared Dipper’s free will to titanium: thought to be impenetrable, solid and strong, able to withstand even the most sound of arguments if the logic called for it, but under strain, even titanium had its weaknesses. When oxidized just right, titanium worn down and shredded was extremely volatile—flammable even—when met with a hot enough flame.
