Chapter Text
Shauna used the hidden key to get into the Taylor residence. It was a small silver one that Jackie’s mother thought she cleverly hid it in a small garden statue of two frogs on a bench by the garage, yet Shauna has been in the know of this for about seven years at this point. In the early morning, right before anyone was supposed to wake up, she would grab the key from the frog’s mouth and then she would sneak in through the side, into the dining room up the stairs and to the door where-
“Well hey there, Shipman.”
Jackie stood leaning on the door frame with her eyebrows wiggling, quite hilarious in Shauna’s opinion but before she knew it the dark blonde cascaded her arms onto Shauna’s shoulders and moved her hands gently to the brunettes flannel collar and pulled her in for a kiss where she reciprocated by laying her hands on her waist.
The two of them practically fuse together by the lips, dragging themselves into the room with Shauna’s leg shutting the door behind them.
“Shauna! They are going to hear that.”
“Its’ fine, your mother has slept through a tornado siren before.”
Jackie scoffed, dragging the girl onto the end of the bed, and she gave a quick kiss on her forehead before climbing on top of her and getting back to where they were before.
To Shauna, Jackie used a specific chapstick to always make her lips taste like vanilla or caramel, something out of her favorite coffee blends. She entangles herself in the taste and continues to enjoy the soft loving feeling of her best friend’s lips before they move towards the nape of her neck. She kissed gently at the small smooth crevice before deciding to teasingly nibble at the other girl’s sensitive ear.
“Shauna, fuck!”
“Jackie?”
The two of them stopped, Shauna watched the fear make the team captain’s eyes widen as the two of them got up from the bed and panicked, searching around the room.
Jackie pointed towards her closet. “In there! get in there!”
“I’m not going in there!” Shauna whispered with an exasperated tone.
“Oh C’mon Shipman, you’ll feel right at home. Get in there!” She forced the Brunette through the doors and then closed them tightly.
“Jackie, are you doing okay?” Her mother appeared at the door, still in her night robe. “What was that noise about? Do you have someone in here? Is it Jeff?”
“No mom it's not Jeff, I stubbed my toe when I was getting ready.”
The older woman examined her daughter closely. Her sweatpants, small gray top, her hair a bit of a mess still. She sighed. “Is Shauna picking you up?”
“Yes mom, she’s supposed to be here around six fifty.”
“And are you packed yet for nationals? You have to be ready for the whole week away-”
“Mom!”
She dismissed her daughter, closing the door yet leaving a crack of air left. Jackie heard everything her mother made downstairs and even the hum of the song she was singing.
Jackie sighed before she quickly went to the closet and pulled Shauna out of there. “I told you!”
“I’m sorry!” Shauna came out of the closet and into the light of the sun coming through the bedroom window. She blocked it with her hand but as she turned she saw a plan come into play on her best friends’ face. “What are you thinking?”
“There is trellis on the side of the house, if you can get down from the roof and to your car in the driveway. Make it to your car and then pull up to the house. It will be believable.”
“You want me to go out the window? This isn’t an episode of Dawson’s Creek you watched.”
“Don’t you dare make fun of Dawson’s Creek, you were enjoying episodes with me when we watched it last week.” Jackie said. “This is the only way.”
Shauna pouted.
“Hey Shipman, if you do this for me then I’ll give you more than a silly makeout session when we go to Nationals.”
It definitely caught the brunette’s attention, her doe eyes widened as a smile crossed her face with such excitement. She gave Jackie a kiss on the cheek before she then decided to go outside the window.

Shauna watched Jackie come out of her house, her bag slung over her shoulder while she walked towards the car, looking like the most perfect girl she had ever laid eyes on.
It had been about three months since they started dating. A secret only a few people knew about, close to most personal friends. God forbid if Jackie’s mom ever found out. The light she has seen Jackie in ever since they dated has never burned brighter, but especially this week. Her excitement is on fire.
“Your kisses are as wicked as an M-16
And you fuck like a volcano
And you're everything to me-”
Jackie took the tape out, placing it gently in the glove compartment, the radio automatically started playing some generic pop. The dark blonde had a wicked smile on her face. “Were you listening to that?”
“No, it fell into the tape deck and I accidentally pressed play.”
Jackie laughed at the comment. “Oh c’mon. Be excited, nationals is just a few days away. For a whole week we will be posted up in an expensive ass suite that Lottie’s dad paid for.”
“Better than the inn downtown.” Shauna shivered, her eyes drifted away from the road and towards the love of her life. “Are you happy that we will finally get the chance to be y’know… alone. No parents getting in the way of us being all-”
“Mushy gushy and in love?” Jackie smiled. “Why yes I am. A week away from my mom is exactly what I need. Not to mention, it's practice for when we go to college and we are away from home.”
The girl right next to her fixed her lipstick on the mirror while they drove, it wasn’t until they came up on a sign when Jackie finally attuned her attention to the road the same as Shauna.
“The hell is this bullshit?”
“What?” Shauna asked.
“These assholes were under five hundred all season, Shauna you should honk at them!” The captain was already reaching for the helm of the car, grasping the wheel and beeping the horn.
“No, now they are just going to think that we are saluting mediocre baseball.”
Jackie rolled down the passenger side window, moving her body to go outside. “Oh no, they will know- TRY UNDEFEATED BITCHES! WE’RE GOING TO MOTHERFUCKING NATIONALS! WOOO WOO WOO WOOO!”
