What does love mean?
Matt didn’t know love. The word was foreign to him, he looked for its shape, tried to mold it into something familiar. And once he got close to it, he kept it tight on a leash.
Alejandro had known love. Once it had been taken, he wouldn’t allow himself to feel it anymore. He could allow care, compassion but never love, for he knew the hurt that was left in its wake. And maybe there was none left in him.
Magda had seen love on TV. She craved it, looked for every scrap, in its every form. She let it take roots in her body, in her mind, until it was getting nourished by her very soul. Love needed to grow, right? Feed it until nothing remains. Maybe it'd grow something beautiful.
