Work Text:
the last she saw of elphaba was when she was in the sky. oh how she looked so beautiful, no matter how dangerous oz had suspected her to be glinda only saw beauty. that was her last look before she got dragged back inside being taken away from her elphaba.
morrible had decided to send her back to shiz, so she was escorted down to the train station. boarding the same train she had been on not even a day earlier. it was awfully silent as she processed the whole day, staring blankly at the table that sat in front of her. thank goodness nobody was waiting for her at the station back at shiz. it was completely desolate, glinda assumed it because the sun was setting and that night would be arriving shortly, so she walked back to the dorms alone. she walked through the quiet halls, and up the flight of stairs that led to where her dorm was located.
she sighed in front of the door, her hand trembling on the doorknob before turning it and pushing the door open, swiftly stepping inside before closing it behind her. everything was just as they had left it, glinda's vanity was neatly tidied like it was before they left with a hairbrush and what she assumed was blush left out. her bed was neatly made like it was this morning. she turned herself to reluctantly face elphaba's side of the room. elphaba's desk was still messy, unfinished notes lied out with a textbook open next to them. her bed was also made. glinda let out a whimper, her bottom lip trembling slightly. she didn't need to hold it together in here, nobody would see her here anyways.
tears started trickling down her face as she stepped closer to elphaba's side of the room, her breath shaky as she opened up elphaba's dresser, taking out one of her sleep gowns. she brought it to her face, taking a long inhale of elphaba's scent that she loved so dearly, her tears falling on the gown. glinda shakily pulled the gown away from her face, before walking over to elphaba's bed and gently placing it down. another sigh left her as she sluggishly unzipped her dress and slid out of it, letting it drop to the floor with a quiet thud. glinda grabbed the night gown, easily sliding it over her head. the gown was a bit big on her, but she didn't mind.
she peeled back the sheets on elphaba's bed, crawling in. she curled up in a tight ball, pulling the covers up to her nose as she surrounded herself by elphaba's scent. her tears still fell, soaking the pillow below her.
"oh elphie" was all glinda managed to choke out before she started sobbing. they weren't pretty tears, they where loud, ugly, throaty sobs. her breathing was fast and shallow as she continued. the sobs turned into tears paired with glinda repeatedly screaming elphaba's name. she's surprised nobody has come to tell her to quiet down, that doesn't matter now though. she scratched at her skin, her nails being shoved deep into her skin, before moving down to her legs and doing the same, beads of blood forming. she didn't care, she just wanted her elphie back.
glinda cried for hours, until the sun was up and the morning classes started. the only reason she stoped was because she physically couldn't pull another tear out. her eyes where puffy and red, her hair a mess, dry blood lightly traced down her arms and legs some of it sat under her nails. glinda stared at the sheets, opting to whimper instead due to the lack of tears willing to fall. she tightened herself in the ball she was in, closing her eyes as the exhaustion from shed tears caught up to her. the sleep was light and painful.
Glinda Upland repeated this for 3 months.
