Jade thanks Tori for getting the money for her play

Notes:

This fic takes place in season 1 after the episode where Tori helps put in a play for her dad but is set closer to the modern day cause I don't wanna do research <3

This probably won't be one of my better fics but I've been dwelling on it all day so enjoy

Chapter 1: A knock at the door

Chapter Text

<p>Tori sat on her couch, tapping a pencil against the sketch pad in her hand as she stared at the TV blankly; she had an assignment due on Monday about young upcoming stars and had to pick someone to write a biography about. The television blared with the sound of an obviously fake laugh track as the 10-hour compilation of every iCarly stream to exist played from it.</p>

<p>Just as Tori began to doze off from pure boredom, she heard a knock on her door; she groaned and picked herself up to head toward the door as the sound of pounding continued in an irritated fashion. Opening the door, she was surprised to find that, for the second time this year, Jade was standing at her door.</p>

<p>Jade stood at the door for a moment, her soft brown hair highlighted by the warm yellow glow of the porch light, her colorful highlights dimmed by the night.<br />

"Jade?" Tori uttered, a little confused, "What are you doing here?" Jade's expression held some trepidation as she shoved past Tori into her living room, her arms crossed against her chest as she turned back to face Tori. She sighed, placing one of her hands on the back of her neck and looking anywhere but at Tori.</p>

<p>"I know it's late," Jade said, pacing in place a bit, her eyes now fixed on the floor. "I just wanted to say thank you"<br />

Her eyes darted up to Tori "I never would've been able to do my play if it weren't for you, and I'm sorry for being a dick to you about it" Tori walked over to Jade coming a little too close to comfort but Jade was used to that, she reached her hand out and grabbed Jade's "of course, anything for a friend."

Jade's eyes held something Tori couldn't quite make out, her hand tightening around hers. "Yeah, friends."

Her hand was warm, and her soft, piercingly blue-green eyes stared deep into Tori's soul as if yearning for something she wanted but couldn't have. Tori inched closer, the gap between them becoming smaller as she did. Jade's eyes became panicked as yearning turned to fear, dropping Tori's hand Jade crossed her arms again "I should be heading home" Her eyes darted to the floor again as a flush crept into her face, "my dad's probably gonna want to have a talk with me" Tori's arms dropped back to her side, as she stepped back from jade a bit. "But I meant what I said, I really am thankful."

As Jade walked out the door of Tori's house, she couldn't help but smile. There was nothing to smile about, really, but as she walked through the cold, dark air, all she could think about was the way Tori held her hand. She had never noticed how soft her skin felt; she could still feel her warm breath as she approached her and the way her sleepy voice scratched her brain.

Jade shook the thoughts from her head as she reached her car, a doapy smile still plastered against her face as she laid her arms and head against the steering wheel. Her body relaxed letting any nervous tension fall off of her shoulders.

God, why was she so tense?

Jade ran through the memory one more time before starting the engine of her car.

Maybe being Tori's friend wouldn't be so bad
