Summary
On the night of the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards, rising star Yang Jaewon wins Best New Actor while his partner, Baek Kanghyuk, a respected name in the industry finally earns the Best Actor title after years of nominations.
In public, they upheld their professional facades, navigating the ceremony with composed poise. But in private, their shared pride unfolded into something far more intimate, tender and entirely their own. The warmth of a celebration meant just for two.
It is a story of love that blossomed quietly behind the scenes and has only deepened with time. Tonight wasn’t just about the awards. It’s a chapter in a story they had written together, where every win, every whisper of pride, was already shared long before the world caught on.

He hovered just beyond the cluster of winners, eyes darting left and right, unsure where he belonged in the frame. Everyone else moved with confident direction but Jaewon stood still.
Then, through the rustle of gowns, shifting footsteps and voices rising in scattered directions, he heard it clear, familiar and cutting clean through the noise.
“Jaewon-ah!”
He turned instinctively, something in his chest pulling taut, like it always did when it was him.
There, just a few steps ahead, Kanghyuk stood tall among the crowd, his expression unreadable save for the way his hand lifted, calling him forward. That same hand that had always reached for him when the world spun too fast, when the lines between who they were and who they had to be began to blur.
Without thinking, Jaewon walked toward him. The noise around them fell away, the chatter and commotion fading into something distant and forgettable. All he heard was the sound of his own heartbeat, steadying with every step closer.
When he reached Kanghyuk’s side, there were no words exchanged. Just a glance, a quiet and familiar once laced with everything that lived between them.
Kanghyuk shifted slightly, a small movement barely visible to anyone else. But to Jaewon, it spoke volumes. It’s a quiet invitation. He was making space for him and Jaewon stepped into it without hesitation.
They stood shoulder to shoulder, trophies in hand, two silhouettes framed by a blaze of stage lights and the rhythmic click of camera shutters. Two names, two wins and two paths that had once run parallel now standing still in the same frame.
—ch. 1Kanghyuk lifted his glass, his gaze fixed on the man beside him. Softened now by the low light, legs folded easily beneath him on the couch and laughter still lingering at the corners of his mouth.
“To the Best New Actor,” Kanghyuk said, voice quiet and full. “My baby, Yang Jaewon.”
Jaewon looked down at his own glass, then back to meet Kanghyuk’s eyes. His smile is gentler this time. Not for the cameras, not for the crowd, but just for him.
“To the Best Actor,” Jaewon said, his eyes glinting with mischief. “And the only actor who’ll ever be the best in my life, Baek Kanghyuk sunbaenim~.”
He drew out the honorifics just enough to tease Kanghyuk with a playful, mock-respectful tone. Completely in character for Jaewon and full of his usual charm.
Then, after a beat, the smile faded into something more fragile and more real.
“And… to both of us.”
