Work Text:
A building echoes with cheers and excitement as the audience waits for their favorite band to perform for them.
The band is currently sitting in their designated dressing room adding their finishing touches to themselves. Noodle stares intently at the wall mirror, adding abstract shapes to her face with her glittery eyeliner. Russel stands alongside 2D, adjusting his shirt collar while 2D observes himself through another mirror next to where Noodle is doing her makeup. Murdoc is splayed across the couch on the side, mindlessly scrolling through his phone.
Through the mirror, 2D notices Murdoc’s eyes taking glimpses at him. 2D stares back at his reflection, trying to understand what he's doing. Murdoc's eyes rested on his singer's face once he realized he caught his attention. He looks him up and down, making a questioning look. 2D tilted his head at this. The bassist’s gesture only left him more confused. Murdoc sighs heavily followed by an eye roll. He returns back to his phone. 2D ignores it for now and returns to what he was doing before.
The band's performance is in the next 10 minutes, leaving the band feeling ecstatic. This performance is no different than any other, yet the distant cheers always fuel them with a desirable amount of glee. They can never get enough of it.
Noodle leans back from the mirror, feeling satisfied with her work. She turns to Murdoc, whose eyes are still glued down to his device, “Murdoc, I'm heading to the stage early, you coming?” She says heading to the exit of the room.
“Yeah, in a bit. I need to settle something.” The green man grumbles.
Noodle rolls her eyes at his bad temper. “This can't wait until after the performance?”
He lowers his phone and leans forward from his position to give her his “full” attention. “No, just go on. I'll make it there before it starts.” He waves her off as he leans back on the sofa.
“Fine,” She sighs unamused. “Russ?” Russel nods and follows her out the door. Murdoc crosses his arms, watching them leave. He then looks over to 2D who's still staring at himself in the mirror.
2D spots the two leaving and scurries over to the door to join them.
“You!” Murdoc calls out, stopping 2D in his tracks. The blue boy looks over to his bandmate. He does not look pleased. What did he do now? The bassist's deep stare was soul-eating. He couldn't look away even if he wanted to. Looking straight into them was an instant hypnosis. Taking his breath away; falling deeply into his trance.
Murdoc brings out his calloused hand, beckoning the man over with a single finger. 2D follows his wordless order and walks over him awaiting his next command. The green man uncrossed his arms to sit up straight, making room for his obedient lead singer to sit next to him. Oh, how he adores having that boy wrapped around his fingertips. It's such a treat to watch him follow his bidding. He patted the empty space next to him and 2D followed.
Once seated and comfortable, the singer feels warm hands grabbing his face and tugging it closer to the man next to him.
“M-Murdoc?” The singer questions while feeling so flustered.
“Be quiet bitch, I'm doing you a favor.” 2D doesn't respond back; as harsh as he sounded, his voice lacked malicious intent.
Murdoc turns 2Ds head slightly to see his eyeliner is a little smudged. In fact, the man looked a little too sloppy for his liking. Not only did his eyeliner not properly compliment his pure white eyes, but his hair was too dainty looking for his wacky outfit. He was not going to let his pretty singer go out looking like a mess on his watch. Unfortunately, Murdoc was tight on time. They had another 5 minutes till showtime, not enough for a full makeover. He'll just have to make his face at least presentable.
Murdoc licks his thumb and carefully wipes the smudge clean off 2Ds face. 2D cringes slightly at the wet contact on his skin, but soon relaxes from the gentle caressing. Murdoc ignores his reaction, trying to not think about it, and then turns the younger one's head in the opposite direction. The eyeliner is not as bad on this side compared to the other. Murdoc licks his finger and does the same action as before. His eyes temporarily flicked over to 2Ds.
Bad idea.
He hears the younger one's breath hitch. What a noise…How could a simple noise make his own heart miss a beat? The bassist's thumbs had long stopped caressing his face. He felt his hands start growing warmer. He took notice of 2Ds cheeks gradually turning red. How cute. 2D seemed so focused on Murdoc, that he probably didn't realize how much looks like a tomato. He unconsciously starts leaning in a bit. Murdoc was silently enjoying every second of it. Staring at 2D was always a treat for his eyes. Every single one of his little expressions was always such a delight! Craving more, he feels himself lean in closer; feeling his heavy breath on his face. He watches those wondering eyes grow half-lidded as he moves in closer. He could stare at him forever.
Suddenly, an internal alarm reminded Murdoc about the show.
Painfully, the bassist forces himself to pull away, blushing slightly. He could've sworn he heard a quiet whine come from the younger man, but he must've imagined it. The hands on his singer's face shift into his soft blue hair. He takes a look at 2Ds hair to examine the mess of it.
Not messy enough. He uses his hands to gently ruffle up his hair.
“Murdoc…” 2D breathed out.
No response.
“Murdoc we're gonna be late…”
“Shush, you're distracting me.” Murdoc growled at him. He removes his hands from 2Ds hair then finally leans back to admire his work.
Perfect
He looked like the singer the hearts of girls would melt over. The bassist internally congratulates himself on his quick work. 2D looked away, seeming a little disappointed. Even though this confused Murdoc, he didn't have time to deal with his attitude.
He rolled his eyes and grabbed 2Ds hand. “Come on, the show is about to start. You can bitch and all you want afterwards.” He stood up and pulled 2D to his feet to finally drag him out to the stage.
2D takes deep breaths to calm his racing heart.
