Akira double-checks the placement of all his candles. Then triple-checks.
It really isn’t necessary—the ritual he’s doing is so easy, a first-year could do it. The worst thing that could happen if he fucks it up is that he summons a weaker demon of a different type, and has to dismiss it. Even if it somehow manages to breach the containment ring, Akira’s more than powerful enough to deal with anything a ring this size can summon.
The reason for his caution is because if that does happen, his safety amulet will trigger. That sends an alert to his student mentor, along with a log of the exact ritual he was using.
Which means his mentor would know he’s trying to summon a succubus.
