Work Text:
It was a rainy day for the Cross Guild.
Droplets poured ruthlessly outside of the Cross Guilds tents, flowing effortlessly in the wind. It was rare for their island to rain so incessantly, but it did prove itself to be soothing. Atleast for Mihawk.
He wouldn’t say the same for the others.
Mihawk rested against the plush pillows of his bed, sleeping peacefully to the sounds of rain pouring out— slowly, Mihawks eyes fluttered open— looking up at the ceiling with a tired gaze. Mihawk sighed, moving up to rest against his headboard, before feeling a certain…weight on him.
What in the world.
Last time Mihawk checked, he fell asleep in his own room. Not in Crocodiles— and whoever was holding onto him definitely wasn’t as large as Crocodile. His brows furrowed slightly, reaching for his covers as he uncovered…
A scared, scared Buggy.
Ah. Okay.
Mihawk looked down at Buggy with an impassive look, seeing how the chubby clown held onto his lean figure, his face nuzzled in the crook of Mihawks armpit. He could feel the clown trembling with each breath, his blunt nails digging into his waist as he squeezed his eyes shut. He wore nothing but his heart-patterned boxers, revealing his sweat sheened body, most likely from fear. This confused Mihawk at first, staring blankly at Buggy— He was about to speak, before he heard the loud roar of thunder outside.
"AAGH!!" Buggy clung onto Mihawk further, hiding underneath Mihawks arm as his nails clawed at Mihawks frame, not enough to puncture, but enough to leave red marks at its wake. Mihawk didn’t react— only puzzling it together.
Buggy was scared of thunderstorms, so it seemed.
"Buggy," Mihawk started, looking down at the clown, his head of hair standing up from the loud noises. "Its rude to come in my room unannounced, let along cling onto me. What are you doing?" Mihawk asked dryly, his hand tempted to rest on Buggys hair, but alas he refused.
"I—I got scared, I couldn’t sleep…please don’t be mad at me…" Buggy whined, his red nose sniffling as he held onto Mihawk like a lifeline. Mihawk sighed, unsure on how to approach this.
"I have many meetings to attend to, clown. Id appreciate it if you got off of me." Mihawk stated, though he made no move to pry Buggy off of him. He wasn’t sure what time it was— but he’d rather not waste it by laying in bed and coddling a clown.
"Nuh-uh." Buggy shook his head, his body stuck to Mihawk. Mihawks brow twitched, he knew the clown was scared— but Mihawk had work to do.
"Its just thunder, it wont kill you." Mihawk huffed, at this point he was tempted to push Buggy off— but right as the thought came to mind, he heard the sounds of something else shifting in his bed.
Or rather, someone else. As he looked beside him— he was greeted with none other than…
Crocodile.
"This is ridiculous." Mihawk pinched his temple, not only did he have a trembling clown in his bed, but a mob-boss like man in his bed too. "Don’t tell me you’re also here because you’re scared of some measly lightning."
Crocodile grumbled tiredly, his bloodshot eyes half lidded as he laid right next to Mihawk, all huddled up under the covers as his curls were all messy and all over the place. He wore nothing but boxers aswell, revealing his scars from past battles, aswell as two clean cut lines underneath his chest.
He saw how exhausted the two were, how tired they were from the loud noises outside— while Crocodile was less willing to admit it— they both came to Mihawk for comfort.
"mm…shuddup…" Crocodile huffed, deciding to move closer to the swordsman, his nubbed arm draping over Mihawks chest, as his stomach smushed against Buggys back. Mihawks brows furrowed, a rare occurrence for him— but that was because Mihawk was far too tired to mask at the moment.
"You two are insufferable…" Mihawk sighed— knowing he was bedridden until the thunderstorm had stopped. The swordsman reluctantly laid back down, one arm wrapping around Crocodiles back, while his other arm rested ontop of Buggys hair. Another lightning strike hit outside, causing Buggy and Crocodiles to cling on closer— as instinct. Mihawk would rather not babysit two middle aged men, but here he was.
Mihawk sighed, his eyes on the ceiling as he felt the pressing weight of Buggy and Crocodile envelope him— and he couldn’t help but be relaxed by it, he supposed a few more minutes of rest wouldn’t hurt…
So, Mihawk closed his eyes, resting his head as Buggys trembles soon soothed, now holding onto Mihawks middle for comfort— all the while the prideful ex-warlord rested his chin on Mihawks collarbone.
He’d have to thank the rain for giving him this temporary vacation, he thought.
