Cat Loving

Summary:

“Roommates definitely kiss each other’s hair all the time,” he would rationalize it as much as he could.

Honestly speaking, he was glad that it had lasted for as long as it did. Any longer and he might have actually started purring in typical cat fashion.

OR

Kagiura kisses Hirano's hair :)

Notes:

I said I wouldn't post until mocks are over but I cooked this up during break today (aka I gave into my hrkg demons) so I might as well post it :> I was THIS close to calling it 'Schrodinger's Cat' lmaooo but title from Cat Loving by Kashii Moimi because I cannot title

Enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Hirano was in the middle of pacing the space between his bed and Kagiura’s, muttering the derivation for Snell’s Law as he did so when he catches Kagiura’s stare all the way from the genkan.

He realized how ridiculous it must be for him, an honors student with top grades, to be pacing around mumbling equations.

“So-” Hirano was about to apologize when he saw that Kagiura wasn’t being the slightest bit judgemental. “What’s wrong?” Hirano asked instead, a little worried at the sight of Kagiura just being rooted to the genkan, eyes narrowing but not angry.

“Nothing,” Kagiura shook his head, still staring. Those dark jade eyes were transfixed on him - soft and tender but just as intense.

Hirano thought that being able to perfectly balance out intensity with gentleness should be illegal.

Kagiura stepped into the room, crossing over to stand in front of Hirano, who paused, looking at Kagiura in a are-you-sure-nothing’s-wrong sort of way.

Kagiura smiled, reassuring and sweet when the rest of Snell’s Law erases itself from existence inside Hirano’s brain because there are fingers gently carding through his rough, damaged blonde hair.

Kagiura was treating the blonde strands as if they were silk - slow and careful, as if he had all the time in the world. As if the strands of Hirano’s hair had been woven from glass.

It’s not even remotely similar to the way Hirano does it.

Kagiura was being delicate with each and every slide of his fingers through blonde hair. It’s enough to make Hirano lean further into the touch. His heart feels all fluffy and his brain seemed to be floating away into somewhere that wasn’t the depths of physics.

His nerves seemed to have rewired because now he was hyper-aware of the touches. Every time Kagiura ran his fingers through damaged strands, Hirano could feel electricity beneath his skin.

What the hell?

“Kagi-kun?” Hirano muttered, more in confusion than discomfort.

Kagiura didn’t reply verbally, instead, he isolated a few strands of Hirano’s hair and brought it to his face.

“Wha-”

The taller leaned in, tilting his head, parting his lips slightly and kisses it. He gives the damaged strands the most unfairly tender kiss in the history of kisses.

Hirano’s feet were nailed to the ground. He couldn’t move away, and he didn’t want to move away. Then Kagiura gave his hair a few more tousles and Hirano suddenly felt as if he had been transformed into a cat, one of those fluffy ones like Ragdolls.

“That was ten seconds,” Kagiura let go of Hirano’s hair and proceeded to fall on his bed, not even bothering to change.

True to his fashion, he was asleep within a mere few seconds, leaving Hirano trying to process what had happened.

For some reason, Hirano felt like his nerves had been rewired all wrong because he had never felt electricity under his skin as intense as that ever before. And the last time he checked, he was not made out of metal to cause that sort of electrical conductivity.

Not to mention his heart still felt fluffy.

“What the hell…” He muttered, covering his face with a hand to hide the growing redness even though he knew Kagiura wouldn’t see it. “Dumbass,” he muttered, glancing at Kagiura, who was sprawled out on the bed, snoring away to glory. “That was more than ten seconds, wasn’t it?”

Involuntarily, he reached out a hand to touch his hair and instantly regrets it. He could still feel the ghost of Kagiura’s lips on the strands.

“Roommates definitely kiss each other’s hair all the time,” he would rationalize it as much as he could.

Honestly speaking, he was glad that it had lasted for as long as it did. Any longer and he might have actually started purring in typical cat fashion.
