Chapter 1: Abandonment

Chapter Text

Garmadon paced back and forth. Outside the room where his wife lay giving birth. To their son..

Their only son.

Seconds turned into minutes and minutes to hours.
He clutched his head, yanking at his hair. The venom from the snake bite still had an effect on him, and it would forever.

A sound came from the room. A cry. A baby's cry.
The man removed his hands from his head, his hair disheveled from the constant tugging.

A nurse walked out, holding a small bundle in her arms. Garmadon walked up to her, moving the blanket from the face of his newborn son.

A small toothy grin formed on the fathers face. Gazing at the newborn, his heart fluttered in joy.

“He looks just like his mother.”

The nurse nodded in agreement. Letting Garmadon take the baby for a moment that seemed like forever before taking him away.

Garmadon sighed, fixing his hair then going to check on his wife. Glancing back at the nurse and his kid one last time.

Misako lay in the bed, her face turned to the side. Garmadon approached her with concern

“Misako?”

She turned her head towards him, tears stuck on her face. His heart dropped for a quick moment.
“Are you..” He paused, choosing the correct words.
“Are you okay?”

She stared at him, sitting up and covering her face with her hands. “What’s wrong with him?” She sobbed. Her words etched concern and confusion on Garmadon's face

“wrong with who?…”

“Our son”

His heart dropped more than it did before. What does she mean? What’s wrong with our son? Rubbing the bridge of his nose he glanced down; glancing back at her afterwards

“What do you mean? He seemed perfect to me.”

She held
her breath for a second. Hey expression unreadable “did you see his back?..”

He shook his head. What is she talking about? “What’s wrong with his back?”

Misako let out a breath. “wings..”

Did he hear her correctly?..wings?..
He paused at her comment.

“Did you just say…wings?”

She nodded. Biting her bottom lip, her eyes squeezed shut. Garmadon took a step back trying to process things. He knew it was a possibility, from him being an oni he knew that their son wouldn't be ‘normal’.

But wings? How does he have wings? Garmadon nor his brother Wu ever had wings. So why does his son have them?

His head hurt from the constant thinking. He rubbed his temples, trying to process what Misako had told him. It had intrigued him.

The man shook his head. Looking back at the brown haired woman laying in the hospital bed, setting a reassuring hand on hers.

“Listen..I’m sure it’ll be no big deal” He spoke gently. Or tried too. “But, have you thought of a name?.” He asked trying to distract her

Misako glanced at him, nodding again. Garmadon's face turned into his one toothy grin. “So what’s his name?”

“Lloyd”

Lloyd..

“Wonderful name”

He watched as she smiled. Not knowing that would be the last time he ever saw her smile.

**************
Just like how minutes had turned into hours. Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months and months turned into years.

Misako looked at her son below her, he was around 4 years old now. She watched as his wings fluttered a bit as he sneezed.

The blonde boy clung to her leg, normal sized beautiful white wings flapping happily. Her face darkened a bit, she knew that she would have to leave him soon.

The prophecy of the green ninja was all too clear. Her son…

Was the green ninja.

Later that night Misako sat on her bed. Looking blankly at the wall. She really didn’t want to leave her son, but it was her only choice.

She turned her head towards the doorway of her room. Lloyd stood there, his tiny hand gripping the door frame. She watched as he rubbed his eyes; light blonde hair falling in his face.

“Lloyd, why are you still up?”

Lloyd stared at her, fluttering his wings a bit. “Cant sleep..” he admitted.
Misako sighed, scooting over and patting the spot beside her. “Come sit down”
Lloyd scurried over to her, clinging to her side. She ran her fingers through his hair; watching as his tiny wings fluttered.

She couldn’t…

Yet she had too…

A few weeks later she stood at the door step of darkly’s boarding school for bad boys. Holding her son’s hand as tears threatened to fall out her eyes.

“Mama..what’s this place?”

“Nothing..just go inside..okay?”

“Okay..”

She watched as her son walked inside, quickly she turned her back to leave. Not daring to look behind her. A small voice spoke.

“Y-you’re leaving me?…”

She didn’t turn around or say a word. Only held back a couple of tears and walked on.

The child..was devastated.
