Chapter Text
Jennie was in an airport, rushing as if she wanted to escape something. While she was in line to pay for her tickets, her phone rang. She hesitated but answered the call. “Where are you?” the caller asked. Jennie panicked but replied, “I’m sorry, Jisoo, but I don’t want to be here anymore. I’m going somewhere.” Jennie told Jisoo, “Please tell me where you’re going,” Jisoo said in a worried tone. Jennie responded, “I’m going to Thailand. I’ll call you when I’m okay, so please don’t tell anyone.” She pleaded with Jisoo, and there was a silence on the other side then Jennie heard Jisoo speak, “Okay, I won’t tell. Just please text me when you arrive in Thailand.” Jisoo asked Jennie, who agreed and bought the ticket.
It took an hour, but Jennie arrived in Thailand and she had nowhere to go but was determined to travel far, avoiding Bangkok and decided to go to Phuket thinking no one will find her there. As she arrived, she stood at the street and started walking as she did not know what to do. After walking for a while she sat down at the entrance of a building and decided to sleep, thinking about her plans for tomorrow. When she woke up, she heard a voice say, “Hey.” She slowly opened her eyes to see a short-haired brunette with a mole on her left eye staring right back at her.
She was jolted awake as she realized that this person probably owned the building and immediately stood up and started apologizing. “I’m so sorry,” she said in english as the girl stared at her. “Are you Korean?” she asked Jennie, who nodded at her. “Okay, um, do you have anywhere to stay?” the lady asked, and Jennie was surprised that she spoke to her in perfect Korean but still answered her, “No, I wasn’t able to find one yet, but I’ll be out of your way,” she replied. However, the lady stopped her. “Stop,” she said, and Jennie looked at her. “Why don’t you stay here for a while? I have a spare room upstairs,” the girl offered her.
Hearing that made Jennie feel suspicious, and she was about to leave, but the girl spoke again. “I know my offer was suspicious, but I’m not going to hurt you, and I don’t think you would find any building that would let you stay since it looks like you just got here without a plan,” she said, looking at her. What she said was true; Jennie was in such a hurry that she only packed the things she needed in her small suitcase. Weighing her options, she thought this girl seemed trustworthy enough anyway, so she decided to listen. “Okay,” she said, and the girl smiled as they entered the small building.
Jennie noticed that the first floor was a photography studio and walked up the stairs to the second floor. “I used to stay here before I found my apartment, but I still stay here whenever I can, so you can use this for a while,” the girl said, showing her the place. The room was quite spacious, with a kitchen and one room on the other side. “So, are you gonna stay?” she then asked Jennie. “I don’t have money to repay you,” she told her, but the girl smiled. “Don’t worry about it; you can repay me at some point. I just wanted to help you until you get back on your feet,” she said, and Jennie smiled at the girl’s kindness and thanked her. “I haven’t gotten your name yet,” she said to the girl, who stared. “My name is Lalisa Manoban, but you can call me Lisa. How about you?” she asked Jennie. “My name is Jennie Kim,” she introduced herself. “Nice to meet you, Jennie! I’ll bring you fresh clothes later, and there’s food in the fridge,” Lisa told her and left the room.
When Jennie gets on the bed, she thinks about what happened and is surprised by Lisa’s kindness. She decides to stay here for a while before planning on what she’ll do, but first, she’s going to take a short nap. She sighs in relaxation on the bed and thinks about the person she met, feeling determined to repay her for her kindness. She wonders how she knows Korean, which are the thoughts that cross her mind before sleep overtakes her once again. She wakes up an hour later to find fresh clothes and breakfast already made and seeing this act of kindness from a stranger makes Jennie truly determined to repay her.
