Chapter Text
V1 had killed off the last soul in Heresy. It knew it had, so it lingered by the corpse. Desperate, trying to squeeze as much blood as possible out of it, trying to delay their inevitable death. But, much to their dismay, the dead sinner had no more blood to give, it was dry. It went back to the other corpses, trying to see if those had blood, surely they must, right? I mean, it never actually properly drained the blood until now, just getting their fuel from the splatters. They dashed from corpse to corpse to corpse. Empty. Empty. Empty. Empty. There's no more. It was getting scarily close to the end of Hell, and it didn't even know if it could cross into Heaven, but still, it has to try.

Gabriel decided he might as well have one final battle with the machine before he dies. He'd much rather die at its hand in a blaze of glory right now than having to wait for his death. And so, he teleported himself to Treachery in a bright white flash. And yet, the machine was nowhere in sight. Odd. Had it already passed into Heaven? Couldn't be. There were sinners all around him. He had an idea. An easy, if not a bit selfish, way to get the machine to him faster

It had made its way down to Fraud, and it was empty. Completely devoid of sinners. It only saw dried up splatters of blood. Something, or someone, got here before it. It just hoped that whatever got here before it was an easy kill, it didn't have enough fuel for a strong enemy at the time. As it trekked further and further it only got more tired and more frustrated. It had finally breached Treachery, but still, no sinners. Whatever, this should be around where heaven starts. It saw a glimpse of gold and silver. Gabriel. Fuck. The desperate part of it wanted to fight him, to harvest his blood, but the logical part of it knew that if it tried to fight him, it wouldn't survive. He was guarding the gate to Heaven, but maybe if it was smart, it could sneak around him. It lowered the brightness of its optic, partially to conserve fuel, but also to sneak more easily. But poor V1 wasn't built for stealth, Gabriel saw it almost immediately.
“Machine, this will be our final battle. You'd better---”
He was silenced by a magnet lodging itself into his waist.
“Haahm… Eager to purge Heaven, aren't we Machine.. Fine, no small talk.”
He unsheathed Splendor and Justice, brandishing them with a flourish. The machine steadied themself, aiming their railcannon at his waist, but he lunged at them, making them miss in their haste to shoot and dodge. It doesn't normally miss, must be due to their low fuel. They switched back to their nail gun, it always dealt a hefty amount of damage to him.
“Oh no you don't, machine.” he taunted, slashing at them.
In response, the war machine dashed to the side, strategizing the most efficient way to incapacitate him. Railcannons and nail guns are recharging, best to go to old reliable. They pulled out their marksman, flicking the coins into the air.
“Not gonna work” he used his sword to flick the coins back at it. It had no time to react.
Ah. It didn't know he could do that. By the nature of the marksman coins, they punctured its fuel lines. Oh. It's losing the little blood it has left. That's bad. It doesn't want to die. It can't move. It doesn't want to die. It can’t hear. It doesn't want to die. It can't scream. IT DOESN'T WANT TO DIE. It can't see.
One.
