Chapter Text
Nico did not wanna be here. He has never enjoyed sports and he didn't understand the appeal. Especially not football watching people deliberately jump and tackle each other and then they half the time ending up hurt did not seem fun to play or watch. That all changed one day when his friend Annabeth dragged him to the homecoming game. Annebeth was there to support her boyfriend number 18 Percy Jackson and Nico was there to support Annabeth. He brought his phone to mindlessly scroll on it and he didn't pay attention until Annabeth snatched his phone out of his hand.
“Nico, I wanted you to come with me so I had someone to watch the game, not someone to sit and be on their phone. Come on, join the real world for once, maybe you will actually like this game.” she said while wiggling her eyebrows at the last part which Nico did not know what she meant when she said it like that.
But Nico decided to try and pay attention just to please her plus she still had his phone so what else was he to do. That's when a certain number 23 caught his eyes on the back and it said his last name “Solace” that seemed familiar to Nico but he couldn't place it. 23 had a slight amount of muscles that were defined but not so bulging that they were ugly. From what Nico could see was he had sun kissed blond hair and blue eyes he could drown himself in. He kept his eye on 23 almost the whole time watching as he ran from one end of the field to the other and, TOUCHDOWN! Nico actually cheered which surprised both himself and Annabeth.
“I told you would enjoy the game” she said to him
“Shut up, I'm just trying to have fun because you took my phone”
“Whatever you say shadow boy” she said as she ruffled his hair which annoyed him but he just ignored her as he tried to fix his hair.
He kept a close eye on 23 almost the whole game as Olympus High kept making touchdowns and field goals after another. But no matter who scored the point his eyes were on 23. That's when Annabeth noticed he wasn't actually paying attention to the game, he was paying attention to the game of love.
“Nico, I see you're staring at Will. WAIT does someone have a little crush OMG.”
“No, but his name is Will?” Will solace he could get used to saying that name. It did really sound familiar but he could still not place the name. all he knows is he wants to keep saying that name until he forgets his own name.
“Whatever you say Nico i don't believe you but that is besides the point. it's almost half time you wanna go get some drinks from the concession then we can go and talk to Percy for a bit with me?”
“What other choice do i got?”
“No other choice now come on” Annebeth said as she grabbed onto his shoulder and dragged him to the concession stands. He just got water while Annabeth got a sprite and water for Percy even though he probably already had water. But they met Percy over near the field where he was sitting on the bench and when he saw Annabeth and slowly jogged over to kiss her. Nico made a face of disgust but in reality though they were cute together.
“Did you two love birds forget i was right here” Nico said to get their attention.
“Oh hi Nico didn't notice you. Surprised you actually came to the game.” Percy said after parting from Annabeth's lips but still holding on to her waist.
“I was dragged by your girlfriend but I probably won't come to another game so.”
“I doubt that especially bc you've had your eyes on a certain number 23” Annebeth said which made Nico blush slightly hoping 23 wasn't anywhere around
“Oh does Nico have a little crush” Percy decided to say a little loud nico think it was on purpose to embarrass Nico.
“No i don't plus i think hes even straight.” Nico said as he turned even more red.
“Nico, no one believes you for even a second and for your knowledge hes bisexual. You literally look like a tomato but i guess if helps you sleep at night” annabeth decides to call him out.
That made Nico more hopeful even tho hes trying to convince himself that it isn't a crush
“Oh before i forget there's gonna be a party at Leos house at 9 o’clock today both of you should really come it will be fun” Percy said as he kissed Annabeth again
“I'll think about it” Nico decided to say knowing most likely he wont go but hes also been thinking about going to at least one party this year so maybe this is the party he decided to go to.
“Come on Nico you need to get out of your shell even if you came to this game i literally had to beg you to come. Plus Percy can set you up with will, right Percy?’ Annaneth said
“I sure can.” Percy replied.
“One, I don't like him and even if I did i don't need yall’s help to get him. But I guess I will come to the party if it makes you two shut up about it.”
“YAY” both Percy and Annabeth said in unison which made both of them laugh.
Then Nico saw will walk over to Percy to punch him in the shoulder in a friendly manner.
“Hey dude half time is almost over” will tell Percy while Nico just stood there trying to look anywhere but will. But Will decided to look at him but didn't say anything just staring at Nico but Nico thinks it was just because he hasn't seen him before so he tried to ignore it but that's when Percy broke the silence.
“Alright dude let me kiss my girlfriend one more time and i will be right over.” he said as he did so kiss Annabeth and did go over to the rest of the team with his water he acquired from Annabeth while both him and Annabeth went back up the stands to take their seats.
He watched the rest of the game till Olympus high won the game 27 to 39. He walked straight home think ‘what did i get myself into agreeing to go to a party’
