-Lilith is working at her office-
Lucifer: Lili, dear. It's been a while since we've spent quality time with Charlie, why don't we hang out?
Lilith: Oh, damn... I'm so sorry, I... I need to finish this before the next extermination, maybe then Heaven...
Lu: It wouldn't kill you to take a rest.
Lil: But it would kill many of our people.
-Awkward silence in the room-
Lil: Lulu, you know this is important for me.
Lu: I understand but Charlie misses you, I miss you.
Lil: And I miss you both, but I need to get this done.
Lu: We need you too! Taking a break would be...
Lil: I could take a break if I wasn't doing all of this on my own.
-Lucifer stares quietly, guilty-
Lu: It's just...-sighs- I don't see the point, Heaven won't listen and these people...
Lil: "These people" are our people.
Lu: It's very difficult for me to feel that way, I-I mean! I was the one who gave them free will, but they? they chose THIS?!
Lil: I chose this as well.
Lu: That's different! Because...
Lil: Why? How is it really any different? I went against Heaven's rules and was casted away, you were too, for the same reasons! For not agreeing with them!
Lu: But you only rejected Adam, these people have committed crimes!
Lil: And why is that?! Does every thief steal because they feel like it? Does every killer take a life out of sheer boredom? Does a drug addict become one because it seems fun? Tell me, Lucifer! Because if you talked to them, just once!, you'll get to know their stories, why they acted that way, why they felt forced to a life of crime! Not everyone here is pure evil, they had to do it to survive!
Lu: And I get that, but now they're a lost cause!
Lil: They're NOT.
Lu: Why are you always like this? Why do you need to defend them so badly?
-Lilith stands up violently and irritated-
Lil: Why...? WHY?! BECAUSE THEY'RE MY CHILDREN, LUCIFER. I was the first woman! I was meant to be their mother!! I stood up for myself and got kicked out! You gave everyone free will and you were made an example of! Heaven never accepted us for who we were! They only accept they old rules, even when they're unfair, and I won't stand by that! These sinners are my children, that's why I'll accept them the way they are, I'll show them the love Heaven never showed us!
Lu: B-but-You, you never... You're not actually their mother?
Lil: I might've not birthed them, but I am their mother. I am responsible for them being here!
- At this point Lilith is not in the desk anymore, she's turning his back on him, so he doesn't notice tears might be forming in her eyes. Lucifer tries reaching out, awkwardly-
Lu: No, Lilith, that's not true, it was me.
Lil: It was me. If I didn't reject Adam, they would've... They wouldn't be here...
Lu: But you didn't like him.
Lil: I didn't. And it wasn't right for Heaven to force me to pretend like I did. The same way it isn't fair for them to punish humans souls because of my decision. -Lilith looks at him- Lucifer, if Heaven doesn't take responsibility, who will?
-Lucifer stays silent for some seconds, trying to process everything his wife just said. Ashamed of himself, of looking at her in the eyes, but he does-
Lu: I'm sorry Lili, I didn't know you felt that way...
Lil: I'm... Sorry I yelled, I shouldn't have kept it in for so long
Lu: It's okay, I know you did it for me and Charlie.
-Lucifer hugs her gently,she reciprocates. Lilith looks guilty, she feels guilty. But not only for lashing out, she doesn't believe he understands, not when he said she kept it in for him and Charlie. Her fight wasn't just for them both, it was for herself, for her whole family in Hell, for the family she could've had in Heaven-
Lil: I did it for us...
