Work Text:

"It's awfully cold," Moiraine said, holding up one side of the bedcovers so Siuan could crawl in. As soon as they were together, she immediately pulled the blankets back over them, tucking them in tightly.

As best as she could using only one arm, anyway. It was far too cold to be any more exposed. Siuan wrapped her arms around her and Moiraine hugged her back, the two of them pulling each other as closely together as they could.

"Not much we can do, unfortunately," Siuan said, rubbing Moiraine's back. "Aside from the fire, and even then, that's barely anything. Just think how lucky the Accepted and Sisters are. They can channel whenever, and can stay as warm as they want."

Moiraine shivered, and Siuan pulled her closer.

"Sorry, love," she said, squeezing her tightly. "I didn't mean to make you feel any colder."

Moiraine shook her head, before burying her face in the crook of Siuan's neck. And Siuan was more than happy to let her.

"It's okay," Moiraine said softly, her breath tickling Siuan's skin and her nose brushing against her. Even that was cold.

Siuan ran her fingers through Moiraine's hair. "I suppose we could channel to warm up," she said, gently scratching at Moiraine's scalp. Moiraine hummed a little sleepily, relaxing into Siuan. "If anyone comes up, we'll just tell them that it's cold. I think Merean's busy, anyway. And I bet you half the Novices will be channeling too."

Moiraine nodded, her face still half hidden in Siuan's neck. Siuan idly played with the strands of Moiraine's hair that were mingling with her own curls, kissing the top of Moiraine's head.

"You'll have to get off me so I can channel properly," she said apologetically. Moiraine proceeded to cling tighter to her, and Siuan chuckled.

"Alright, love. You stay right here," she said when Moiraine wouldn't budge. "I don't exactly want to move either. I suppose I'll be able to manage from this position." She shifted a little, making sure Moiraine was comfortable, before opening herself to the Source and weaving threads of Fire and Air and Water, warming up the air in the room, and then extending another flow of Fire towards the fireplace, to make it hotter.

Moiraine let out a little contented noise, shifting against Siuan. Siuan wrapped her arms back around Moiraine again, releasing the Source. It was risky channeling unsupervised as a novice, but at least now the room was warm.

"Better?" Siuan asked, her fingers idly tracing patterns up and down Moiraine's spine.

"Much," Moiraine said. "Thank you."

Siuan gently pulled away so she could kiss Moiraine's forehead, before pulling her close again. "Hopefully no one says anything," she said. "I doubt they will. But we can tell them that it was cold, or we can use an Illusion weave to make ourselves invisible. Then we don't have to answer them."

Moiraine laughed. "If it's Elaida, we vanish," she said. "We fly, instead of fight. Anaiya was telling me that everyone has this response to startling situations where they either run off or face whatever it is that's scaring them."

"Sounds good," Siuan said, bringing a hand back to Moiraine's head, massaging the back of her neck. "And if it's anyone else, then we fight. Which is really just to face whoever it is. Both options aren't too bad, really."

"There's a third option," Moiraine said, reaching for Siuan's hand to hold. "There's also freeze. Where you don't do anything."

Siuan laughed, interlacing their fingers together.

"We won't have to worry about that, though," she said. "Literally, anyway. Since it's not freezing anymore."

Moiraine nodded, squeezing Siuan's hand. "Thanks to you."

"And you."

Moiraine shook her head. "I didn't do anything."

Siuan kissed Moiraine's head again, breathing in her soft scent, before tucking her head under her chin.

"You're warming me up right now by being all cuddly," she said. "That counts."

At that, Moiraine simply laughed and brought Siuan's hand, which she was still holding, to her lips to kiss.
