Tumbler Troubles

Summary:

Agatha has an addiction to buying Stanley cups, she thinks Rio knows but Rio has the wrong end of the stick (or straw)

Day 7 of AAA Week!

Notes:

Now you’re probably wondering how does this fit into the prompt of breeding? Well dear reader, this is probably the weirdest thing my brain could come up with, I am not a smut writer so I was always going to do something fluffy.

It’s like how you always end up with more a Tupperware lids than you do actual boxes, they multiply.

Also I feel this fic has to honour Maya Mason and her emotional support Stanley

Work Text:

Agatha didn’t have a problem.

Even if she hid it from Rio, she did not have a problem.

They were useful.

And not to mention they were in so many different colours and designs.

Agatha tried to talk herself out of it when she was at the store with Nicky. But they had just got a new range of water bottles and who was she to say no to the forest green Stanley cup with the vines creeping up the side that reminded her so very much of Rio.

She also couldn’t say no to the marbled purple insulated coffee cup that was also there, it was her favourite colour after all. It was really a sign that she needed to buy them.

She found Nicky in the next isle over looking at some pajamas which was enough for her to sneak her purchases into the wheely basket he had promptly taken control of when they entered the store.

“Mama what do you think looks better, triceratops or t-Rex’s” his little face questioned

“Oh definitely the triceratops, you know your mami will love those” Agatha picked up some in Nicky’s size and added them to the basket

“Come on mister, we still need milk and bread”

Nicky followed Agatha as they headed off down the aisles and collected the rest of their shopping.

Nicky helped Agatha when they got to the self checkout, passing her the items with care as she scanned their shopping. He had just handed her the pajamas before he looked at the remaining items in the basket and back up at Agatha with a judgy look.

“Mama”

“Nicky”

“There’s cups in here”

“Well done” she sarcastically replied to her son

“Mami said we just needed bread and milk”

“And what would Mami say if she saw yet another pair of dinosaur pajamas, huh?”

Nicky narrowed his eyes at Agatha, he was so much like both his mothers, sometimes it was a blessing and a curse.

“Okay I won’t tell” Nicky finally gave in and passed Agatha the cups “they’re very pretty” he commented

“They are” Agatha smiled at him as she paid for their shopping and grabbed their bags, giving the lighter one to Nicky.

When Agatha pulled into the drive at their home in westview Rio had thankfully not arrived home yet. Agatha unbuckled her seat and turned round to Nicky.

“Now let’s practice before your mami asks, what did we buy at the store today?” Agatha asked Nicky

“We brought milk and bread and cereal and we did not buy pajamas and more cups” Nicky rehearsed, trying to wink at Agatha at the end as their signal for ‘our little secret’

Agatha smiled at Nicky, she knew he would never knowing rat her out to her wife, but Rio did have a way at getting things out of people, including them.

“Good boy, but you’re not going to actually say that last part are you?” She opened Nicky’s door and helped him down onto the driveway

“No mama I’m not stupid” he sighed and rolled his eyes as he headed for the front door, rushing inside to go and play with señor scratchy.

Later that evening Rio had returned home and was helping Agatha clear up after their dinner. Agatha was currently wiping the table while Rio washed and dried the dishes. They would always split tasks like this, making the chores much quicker which inevitably meant more time cuddling on the couch.

Rio was putting away their glasses when she spotted a very dark green at the back of the cupboard.

“What are you doing there?” She spoke as she retrieved the water bottle and put it on the side “that is definitely not where you belong” she spoke to the water bottle.

She put it in the cupboard below, where all of their travel mugs, cups, bottles and Tupperware lived and resumed her drying.

Then she opened the cupboard to put the frying pan away and spotted a usual colour of purple in there too, she reached right to the back of the cupboard and grabbed the mug. She was starting to think she was going crazy, these cups didn’t live in these cupboards.

She opened the bottom cupboard to put the mug back in its rightful place, but before she closed it she did a double take at the amount of mugs and water bottles there was on the shelf. She never really looked when she put stuff away in this cupboard, just finding a space and putting it in (or if it was Tupperware chucking it in and very quickly closing the door)

“Agatha!” She shouted through the house to get her attention. A moment later she heard the sounds of Agatha’s footsteps on their floor

“Yes my love?” Agatha walked into the kitchen to see Rio standing with her hands on her hips, looking to Agatha with the cupboard doors wide open.

Oh Agatha was going to either have to grovel or talk her way out of this one.

“Are these mugs fucking or something?” Rio asked

Agatha blinked a few times and let out a little laugh because of all the things she expected Rio to say, that was not it.

“I’m sorry?”

“Are these mugs fucking or something? Because they seem to be breeding in our cupboards. I just found two in completely different places and I know they weren’t there yesterday” Rio rambled on as she pulled mug after mug and then all the cups out of the cupboard

“Is our house the perfect breeding environment for Stanley cups? Is that what it is because the cupboards are infested”

Agatha really tried not to laugh, she of course knew the source of the mugs, it was her, but Rio didn’t seem to be putting two and two together.

“The bastards are everywhere!” Rio shouted and Agatha completely lost it, she couldn’t hold back her laughter as Rio just stared at her while she laughed.

And then snorted

And then laughed some more

“Am I missing something here?” Rio asked, so very confused at what Agatha found so funny

“Baby it’s me, I’m the reason for all the cups and mugs” Agatha admitted

“You’re breeding them!?”

“Rio, I’ve been buying them then I hide them in different cupboards so you don’t notice”

“So you’re telling me these aren’t a little family of Stanley’s” she pointed to the three on the counter, the green and purple ones from earlier that day along with a smaller one that was an equal mix of both colours

“I’m sorry baby no” Agatha didn’t really know why she was apologising, she really thought Rio was onto her buying all the cups and never thought she would have to explain that their cupboard was not the ideal breeding ground for them.

“Oh” Rio seemed a bit let down “I thought we had a magical cupboard for a moment”

“Unfortunately not my love” Agatha wrapped her arms round Rio’s neck, pressing a kiss to her cheek. “I will try not to buy any more”

“And here’s me feeling bad because I borrow your travel cup every morning, makes sense now why you never moan at me for it” Agatha tapped Rio lightly on the shoulder

“You’re an idiot” Agatha teased as she pressed herself into Rio

“I might be, but I’m your idiot” Rio held up her left hand and wiggled her fingers, showing off the wedding ring Agatha had placed on their many years ago

“You are indeed my love, you are indeed”
