Chapter 1: The Loss
Chapter Text
Green grunted as he kicked the Hinox off of him, he had been pinned in a weaker state trying to protect Blue but thanks to Vio's sharp shot the Hinox went down quickly, just that one doesn't matter though as more monsters swarmed into the throne room, Gannon laughing at their plight. Green managed to catch Vio's eye as he pushed himself up, freezing when he saw the determined look in their eyes, the way they quietly nodded to themselves and straightened up to stare Gannon down, tossing their sword and bow to the side Vio walked forward,
Gannon, not seeing them, laughed out “Just give up already, while I have no choice but to kill your so-called heroes, if the rest of you leave now I might just have the mercy to spare you!” Gannon laughed before finally noticing as Vio got up closer to him, the fourth of the heroes stopped before the king and looked him dead in the eyes, Gannon raised an eyebrow as Vio started to speak.
“What if you didn't have to kill them, what if we made a deal, for my brothers to be allowed to live as normal Hylians under your rule.” Vio stated, keeping their tone smooth and steady, but as their brother Green could hear the nerves dripping off their tongue, see the slight shake in their clenched fists.
Gannon sat up in his throne, intrigued by Vio's statement, “Oh? And just what do you have to offer, in return for your request?” Gannon questioned leaning forward.
Vio took a deep breath and let it out as they answered “In exchange, I offer…. myself.” Green felt his blood freeze, he tried to push himself up, and stop them, this can't be happening, his brother can't just be giving up his life like this?
“VI-” green tried to start but he was quickly pinned back down by a hinox, all from a simple wave of Gannon's hand, “yourself? In what way?” Gannon inquired, tilting his head to the side.
“As a hostage, a servant, a prisoner, how ever you see fit, so long as I'm alive and under your hand, my brothers won't dare do anything to risk my life, so take me, and let them live as ordinary civilians” Vio states, and Gannon blinks a few times, almost taken aback, letting out a laugh as he looked out over the knights and heroes in the room, his eyes landing on Green,
“As long as you're alive I can do anything you say” Gannon hummed rubbing his chin in thought, “Very well then, if you or the other two try anything to defy my reign or dethrone me” Gannon started standing up from his throne, Vio suddenly entrapped by the demon kings Trident, Vio was frozen in place,
“Then you can be very sure I'll mount your fourth’s head above the throne” Gannon growled, Vio and Green's eyes met for a brief moment before Vio looked away quickly, staring down at the floor.
Green was shaken out of his shock by Captain Venezuela pulling his father's arm over his shoulder, Red in his other arm, “Green! Come now we have a chance to leave, alive, you can process this later but we do, Not want to test Gannon's patience” finishing this Venezuela began to make his way out, other knights that had survived helping each other out and dragging themselves out of the throne room, Green pushed himself up on his hands, looking back over to Vio, startling to see Gannon was gone, Vaati having taken his place, Vio looked over at Green and sighed looking away again.
“Just go, Green, I promise, I'll be alright” Vio looked back up at Green and gave him a small smile, Green nodded to them before pushing himself up and pulling Blue over his shoulder after sheathing his sword, once Blue was secured Green picked up his and Vio's swords, looking back over where Vaati was making sure everyone left as Vio was pushed out to a side door, hugging their arms close to themselves.
It didn't take long before Green stumbled out of the Castle, Red had already woken up again and was quick to come to his side to help support Blue, “Green! What took you so long? What happened? Where's ViVi?” Red questioned tears already forming in his eyes as he looked down at the purple gemmed sword in Green's hand.
Green gave him a strained smile, “I'll explain when we get home alright?”
“We're….. we're going home?” Red questioned looking a bit confused, but helped Green drag Blue over to Epona nonetheless, once their unconscious brother was secured on the back of the horse, Green pulled himself up behind him, Red hesitated for a moment until Green nodded to the back of Epona, and Red pulled himself up, wrapping his arms around Green and hugging him.
With a kick to Epona's side, Green steered her off towards their grandfather's forge, the background noise of Venezuela giving out orders, and soldiers trying to figure out where to go from here fading out the further they got, soon replaced by the sounds of the forest. Red squeezed Green again with a slight hiccup,
“Is Vivi going to be alright?” Red choked out, burrowing his face into Greens back, unlatching one hand to grab Blue's, Green took in a deep breath as the trees parted ways and the forge came into view,
“I don't know…I don't know Red, but I hope he will be.”

The house was warm, and the pitter patter of the rain was soothing to listen too as he slowly sipped at his cup of tea and by all means it should be calming, but he couldn't get himself to settle, he's lost track of how long it's been since Vio's sacrifice, but so far Gannon has kept up his end of the deal, Green and his brothers have been living with their Grandfather and don't tend to go to Castle Town much, but the three of them have been treated the same as any other hylian citizen, the only difference is that if they (namely Blue) started to try and fight or push back, instead of being killed instantly they'd be teased and reminded that their fourth's life hanged on by their good behavior, an ever present reminder of the now empty space within their home.
Green let out a sigh as the thoughts passed him, bringing his cup up to take a sip, when he felt a hand lightly squeeze his arm, looking over he saw Red, he moved his hand away from Greens arm giving him a small tired smile,
“How are you holding up?” Red questioned Softly, though there was a strain in his voice, Green noticed Red’s eyes seemed to be a bit puffy as well, it's been…rough on all of them even though it's been barely more than two weeks since they failed to defeat Gannon, Red’s been handling it better than expected, at least from what Green could tell, but he knows Red misses Vio, just the same as the rest of them,
He couldn't help but give a small smile back, even though he knew it didn’t fully reach his eyes, he just hoped it would help his brother a little bit. Motioning for Red to come sit with him, the other eagerly took the invitation, pulling the blanket wrapped around his shoulders tighter, and sitting down across from Green, Red hesitated for a moment before reaching his hand out across the table to two sat at in the living room, Green though, gave it no thought, easily reaching out to hold Red’s hand, which seemed to help calm the others nerves a bit.
“I’ll be alright. It's been hard to keep things together, and trying to figure out what in the world Vio was thinking pulling that stunt is giving me a headache” Green sighed leaning against the table and pinching the bridge of his nose with his other hand, squeezing Red’s hand a bit “How's blue holding up? Did he go to bed? It's been awfully quiet for the past few hours.” Green questioned, smoothly switching the topic with a strained smile.
Red seemed to notice Green's change in topic from how he winced, but otherwise said nothing, just sighed pulling his hands back too himself too lightly fiddle with his fingers, “Blue left to go sit by Dad's headstone, he still isn't handling this all the best, I've tried to help him but…..” Red trailed off looking out the window with a downtrodden expression, Green reached his hand out again to lace their fingers back together, this time, lightly squeezing Red's hand, Red squeezed back.
He wouldn’t be surprised if Blue had gotten into a fight again, out of all of them Blue had received the worst injuries during the fight,he ended up healing alright, but the injuries he had received had led to him being unconscious for two days, When Blue finally awoke, Green had tried to bring the news of what happened up lightly, but there's only so much you can do to lighten the mood when having to explain how not only your brother sacrificed himself, but how their Father had also died that day.
Green was grateful that they still had their grandpa, but after everything, it's just been tiring, not only is Vio's whereabouts and condition unknown, but they can't even do anything to try and help, and on top of it all, they have no idea where Zelda is, she could be dead for all they know. Green though still has a bit of hope, he trusts Vio and he knows he just needs to give it a bit of time that's all,
That doesn't make it any easier though, so with a sigh, Green stood up and began to walk away, abandoning his tea “I'll be in the forge if you need me” Green States, walking off, making sure to pick up Vio's four sword on the way out.
Time, right, all he needs is to give it some time, and soon everything will work itself out, right?

Chapter Text
“ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND? YOU CANʻT BE RECKLESS ENOUGH TO JUST- HEY NO- BLUE!” Green yelled as he followed Blue around the house,
“Oh yeah of course Iʻm the dumb unthoughtful reckless one right? Vio was supposedly the *smart* one so If They can pull something so reckless then why are you getting mad at ME!” Blue growled as he roughly pulled his belt on, securing it before clipping his sword into place where it can be hidden by a cloak, Green was able to take advantage of the brief pause to catch up the blue and grab a hold of his arm,
“Donʻt you dare bring Them into this,” Green scolded, “Blue look, I know your tired of this, of all of this, but you need to calm down, and not risk our position, because how in the world do you even know that this meet up is actually real? How do you know it's not just a ploy by Gannon and his minions to try and lure Hylians out and have a reason to further imprison or kill us off? Gannonʻs cunning you know this, you were there when we were ambushed” Greenʻs tone is as firm as his grip on blueʻs arm as the two stared each other down a tense silence then filling the space between the two of them,
Blue ripped his arm out from Green's grip and got back to getting himself ready to leave, though at a much slower pace, “Yeah? And how will we ever know if it is real if someone dosenʻt go and investigate? I'm tired of just sitting around and doing nothing while that bastard goes and ruins the land we call home, Green there's a chance for us to finally live up to our titles as hero! For fucks sake we donʻt even know where Dottie is and you expect me to just sit by and be compliant with all of this!” Blue Argued back staring Green down, Green knew Blue was right too an extent, but he was being reckless about it….but….do they really have any other option? They’ll be threatened and risk Vio’s life, Green has a little faith that even after months of being separated Vio is still alive and they don’t want to risk their life, but…Investigating a potential meetup for a forming resistance is as much of a risk as anything else,
So in the end, do they really have a choice?
He can’t believe this, he could have just covered for Blue and let him go on his own, Blue has his issues with his temper but he can hold it out long enough not to get busted, Green knows this, and yet here he is, side by side with Blue hidden behind a wall as they wait for the patrol of guards to pass so that they can continue to make their way to the meet up spot Blue had been given,
As the guards passed by Green made a motion to Blue and the two made their way down an alley, down a flight of steps and into a small nook, Blue took on ahead of Green, “Right, from what that lady said it should be one of these doors to the left…” Blue trailed off, scanning each of the doors they passed in the narrow passage, before eventually stopping before one door
Knocking twice, sliding the knuckle of his finger across the door then knocking again, the pattern in which Blue knocked oddly enough seemed really familiar….. As Blue stepped away the door soon opened a small bit, a sheika woman opened the door carefully peering around to look at the two, Her eyes widened a bit as she pushed the door open a bit more looking both ways before motioning for them to come inside “quick quick! We've been waiting for you two! Hurry on inside before the next patrol come by” She stated as she moved away from the door, The two colors didn’t need to be told twice as they moved inside, the door shutting behind them
The woman set a few locks in place as something she said clicked in Green's mind, “You said you were waiting for us?” To his knowledge it's only just recently since that battle at hyrule castle where people were able to start figuring out there was more than one hero, and with how much the three have changed in physical appearance so how would they have been….
“Ah! right , yes” She laughed nervously, “Her majesty had full faith you’d arrive! Though I think she was expecting all four of you.” The Sheika woman laughed, motioning for them to follow her down the hall, Blue and Green looked at each other, a silent communication between the two of them ‘Her majesty?’
After a few moments of making their way down the hall of the home the Two came into a large square room, there was a table at the center, bookshelves pushed up against the walls, chairs pushed up to the table, and some people scattered around the room, though standing at the head of the table were a few familiar faces, Impa, captain Venezuela stood next to an average heighted figure with warm orange hair pulled back into a pony tail, She wore a dress much more simple compared to what the two were used to seeing her wear,
Green could feel his eyes widen as The girl looked up and they made eye contact, her own eyes lighting up in delight as she moved around the table, and Green gladly began to move as well, meeting Dot in the middle as the two collided green wrapped his arms around her and spun her around lightly Blue’s own figure soon getting dragged into the group hug as well, Green buried his face in the top of Dots hair as he felt Blues arms tighten around the two of them,
“I’m so glad the two of your are alive, after I heard the news of what happened at the castle…I…” She started getting cut off by Blue lightly whacking her in the shoulder, “We were just as worried Dottie, We hadn’t seen or heard from you since the castle was stormed we thought you had gotten captured too” Blue frowned checking their friend over as Him and Blue moved away, green nodded in agreement
“Of course you were the one to start a resistance though, But have you been alright? The fact that you're still here..” Green asked looking over the room, Impa nodded to him while Vensuala gave him a small smile, all of the people here seemed to be old hyrulian knights or farmers from outside the city,
“I’m alright i promise” Dot smiled tiredly, “I’ve been hiding out with the Sheika since they helped me get out of the castle, We have a lot to catch up on, were still waiting a few more minutes to let more people show up before we go over everything” She ushered them to come sit over at the table, and green couldn't help but feel a little bit of weight lift from his shoulders
He supposes blue was right, coming here was a good idea, even if theres risk its currently better than watching their home rot and turn to ruin, and knowing that Dot was safe…maybe they really can do something.
