Alone in the stall with the calf, Viktor couldn’t help but stare. He’d seen plenty of newborns living on a farm, but this one seemed… different. Viktor wiped its cheek dry with the corner of the blanket, and sucked in a breath when the calf opened its eyes. Brilliant gold stared back at him, full of curiosity.
“Hello there, little one,” Viktor cooed. The calf’s button nose twitched and it simply blinked. “You’re alright, we’ve got you.”
