Wedding Guests

Summary:

“My dear fellow, this is a wedding—”

“So? ‘S not consecrated ground. I won’t combust from being in the same room as a ring exchange. What, don’t want me getting a share of the cake?”

“Humph.”

Notes:

Written a while back for the prompt “Wedding.”

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Crowley?! What in the world are you doing here?”

“I was about to ask you the same thing. Wasn’t expecting to run into you.”

I am a properly credentialed guest, I’ll have you know. With an invitation and everything.”

“So’m I.”

“My dear fellow, this is a wedding—”

“So? ‘S not consecrated ground. I won’t combust from being in the same room as a ring exchange. What, don’t want me getting a share of the cake?”

“Humph. I am here to bless the couple.”

“Heavenly assignment? Didn’t realize they were that pious.”

“They aren’t, particularly. This is a personal project. They’re a lovely pair of humans and they’ve been through more than enough to get to this point. And I warn you, if you even think of causing trouble—”

“Angel. Relax, will you? I’m not here on business. I know the couple too, that’s all. Bless away, I won’t interfere.”

“Oh. I see. Well. Good.”

“Four-letter words, angel. Don’t get ahead of yourself.”

“You’re sure you’re not here on business? No one from Below will be watching?”

“Yep. Not like they ever watch, anyway. I’ve told you before.”

“...I believe the ceremony is about to begin. Come, let’s sit together.”
