“Percy, look!”
Nico ran across the grass towards Percy, who was walking to his cabin.
Percy looks up in alarm, his years of training immediately setting him on high alert for any threats.
The son of Hades runs up to him, holding up a little trading card.
“I was going through some of my old stuff and I found my box of Mythomagic stuff; apparently Will kept it! I found the 1993 special edition Poseidon and I wondered if you wanted it because that’s your birth year, isn’t it?”
Nico’s words are fast, and Percy wonders if he’s even taken a breath since he started. His voice is high and animated, and his eyes are bright, looking at Percy with excitement.
“I mean, I already have 2 so it wouldn’t be a loss and-”
He cuts himself off, blinking a few times up at Percy as he goes pale.
“Sorry.”
Percy’s brain catches up to the situation.
“What? No, no it’s okay! That would be really cool if you’re willing to give one up, Nico,” he’s quick to reassure. He actually does think having that card is really neat, and if Nico wants to gift it to him, he wouldn’t be upset.
“Yeah? Um, okay, of course. Here,” Nico passes him the Mythomagic card, looking away. His hair covers his eyes and it’s difficult for Percy to discern his expression.
“Sorry, I don’t know why I acted like that,” he mutters.
Percy takes the card gratefully, holding it carefully as he examines it.
“It’s alright, you were excited; it’s cool. Thanks, by the way, for thinking of me. This card is so sick!”
Nico looks up, smiling.
“I could show you my binder of cards, if you want…”
