Silver in the Night (This is a working title and subject to change)

Summary:

Plot Twist: Nova is Diabetic.
This might change a few things.
Victor is slowly on the path to becoming the only one who cares.
Stubborn Teenage Female Daywalker Meets Overprotective Male Vampire

Notes:

I'm trying to get back into writing and posting.
Cruel Intentions is slowly being worked on. Y'all, writing to an episode is so time consuming.
****THIS story is being released before the Z4: Dawn of the Vampires movie comes out. This is based on the trailers, tv spots, and photos that have been released. I added the medical issue because of personal family stuff*****
I'm just fascinated by these two (They're so freaking cute and have so much potential. Plus I'm a sucker for protective men and height differences). There is every possibility that I'm going to revise/edit this once the movie comes out. Or I may just leave it. Dunno yet.
Hope you like the story.

Work Text:

For once in her life, Nova was frozen. Her heart was beating furiously as she sat in her chair in the Vampire clan’s med-room, the wound in her arm being tended to and a glass of juice next to her arm on the table, as Victor stood opposite her, his face blank but his eyes filled with anger at her recklessness.

It didn’t matter that she’d tried to put herself between him and the weapon her father had carried. It didn’t matter that she’d tried to protect him. It didn’t matter that she was usually praised by her own clan for her recklessness and her general lack of concern regarding her wellbeing. She hadn’t paid attention to her arm until he had forced her to, and the juice had been given when he’d realized that her energy had been burned out and that her blood sugar was dangerously low.

Her clan was aware of her blood disorder, a side effect from the human side of her genetics called Diabetes, where her body had trouble regulating its sugar/glucose but overall, the clan pretty much ignored her issues whenever possible and were aggravated when they couldn’t ignore it. Nova had gotten used to ignoring most things about her health, or just pushing past whatever was bothering her, and her attitude had been pretty much encouraged by the clan. Until Victor.

She hadn’t told him of either her energy or her blood sugar issues, and yet his senses had helped him figure it out. She didn’t know how, but his senses were sharper than hers and he’d made a couple comments their last few meetings. Now, because of this last fight and her actions, she was in a chair being tended to like a child in time-out despite the male teenager being exactly the same age as her (okay, potentially a couple months older than her -it didn’t matter anyways). The current situation annoyed her but he’d literally hissed when she’d protested and then trying to move past him with an eye-roll had landed her here. He hadn’t used his air abilities on her or carried her, but it had been a close thing.

Victor wasn’t a fan of her recklessness or general impulse behavior, in the short time they’d known each other- he had actually tried to prevent it and also giving her insight to his physical strength and a stubbornness and determination that out-rivaled hers. So, her actions, in relation to him, made him furious. Even more since she had gotten injured and had been forcing herself to keep going even when her head felt fuzzy from burnout.

The injury and low sugar didn’t make her freeze. But his reaction did. Even more so since his stance and position was directly in the path that she would have taken to try and bolt. So if she wanted to leave (or if someone wanted to get to her), he was directly in the way. On purpose. Being more overprotective than anyone in her clan had ever been.

She didn’t know how to feel about that.

She would never try to go through him or use fire on him (despite the small amount of sparring they’d done with each other to which she’d apologized for).

She’s always been able to make others move, if not through her fighting then through her sheer attitude and stubbornness-despite her small size.

He was the first person she’d met who not only refused to move out of her way but that every instinct she had rebelled against trying to go through him.

And somehow, he’d figured that out and was currently using that to his absolute advantage.

She was stuck in her chair until she was literally allowed to go anywhere, and the glass of juice was empty- and she wasn’t sure she liked the feeling. But one glance at Victors’ unmoving stance and angry eyes made her scowl and shift but ultimately stay put.

Even the shifting made his eyes narrow on her form and movement made her eyes cast downward to his feet and she watched him shift and tense.

Replanting and somewhat bracing himself while making sure she wasn’t going anywhere. She realized he was positioning himself in answer to her shifting, preparing himself to be unmovable and block her if needed. They were going to have to talk in order for him to let her by him if she wasn’t going to try and bolt.

She wasn’t being held captive or prisoner, but she realized she’d let Victor in enough that he wasn’t willing to take any chances. He wanted her safe. Even if it was from herself.
And she was eventually going to have to go back to either her clan or her side of the camp. She could take care of herself, but somehow, she didn’t think that Victor would have anything positive or agreeable to say when she inevitably brought up leaving his side.

Overprotective teenage male Vampire.
