Timeline wise, this is in the rough ballpark of "Defy the Storm," give or take a few weeks.

Work Text:

Jordanna Sparkburn was being hunted.

She was half-asleep on the bed she shared with Syl aboard the Vengeful Goddess , one arm lazily draped over her face. Syl, a blasted morning person , probably had gotten up an hour or two ago. Jordanna couldn’t be bothered to do math yet.

Apparently, though, Remy thought that it was early enough for some hunting.

Jordanna heard the near-imperceptible crackle of Remy’s horns beginning to flicker to life. She peeked out from under her arm to find Remy’s feline pupils as round as moons, peeking out barely from the corner. When she realized Remy considered his target so easy to catch that he hadn’t even relied on stealth, Jordanna huffed indignantly.

“Remy,” she groaned. The Volka only leaned down farther, crouching tight and low against the durasteel floor.

“Remy, I’m not–Oof!” Before she could react, Remy sprung from the floor and pinned Jordanna to the bed with his large front paws on her shoulders. His tail flicked happily and the cat purred with prideful glee.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah, you got me, Remy, you’re such a good hunter,” Jordanna groaned. Remy nuzzled his heavy furry head against her face and she scratched behind both of his ears.

“Cute,” Syl giggled from the entrance to their room. Whatever sour mood she’d woken up with evaporated as soon as she saw her girlfriend in the door with what she assumed was a mug of caf.

“I’ve been murdered, that’s not very cute,” Jordanna mumbled from underneath the mass of Remy’s fur and musculature. Remy took that as a sign that he was welcome to continue pinning her and fully settled his weight over her body, purring with the volume of a damned speeder bike.

“Well, I think you’re a precious murder victim,” Syl grinned as she walked around the side of the bed. She handed Jordanna the mug in her hands, but while so completely trapped, all she could do was hold it, lest she risk spilling it all over herself. Syl scratched Remy’s forehead, who closed his eyes blissfully and leaned into the affection.

“Traitor,” Jordanna half-whispered in (half-mocking) offense. Syl’s grin turned brighter, and any jealousy she felt vanished.

“Remy, can you please let Jordanna have her caf?” Syl pleaded with syrupy-sweet kindness. Remy huffed a little, but relented, and freed Jordanna, but not before pressing all of his weight onto his paws on her stomach. Jordanna flinched and nearly pushed Remy away, but he jumped down before he could face the consequences of his actions and happily trotted out of the room.

“Thanks, Remy!” Syl called. She sat down on the edge of the bed, now that she was given plenty of room, and Jordanna was given the opportunity to properly drink her caf. The relief of the first sip of the warm, soothing liquid was astonishingly powerful.

Thank the Force for whoever invented caf, she thought.

“Awake enough yet to talk plans for the day?” Syl asked. Jordanna thought for a moment, took another sip of caf, then shrugged.

“Mostly. Anything change while you were up?” she asked. Syl shook her head.

“Not really. Affie called about twenty minutes ago to confirm meeting details,” Syl explained. Syl and Jordanna were meeting with Affiie, Leox, and Gyode, to talk about this Byne Guild 2.0 idea that Affie had. Jordanna and Syl decided to hear Affie out with no promises, but honestly, Jordanna was hopeful.

“A shame my ghost won’t be able to attend, seeing as I was murdered and all,,” she joked, and Syl rolled her eyes. They both grinned at each other until they both broke into laughs.

“How long until we land?” Jordanna asked. She wanted to pull Syl into her lap and properly enjoy her caf, but she knew she needed to get ready.

“About a half hour.” Perfect, just enough time to clean up for this meeting, however it was going to go.

“Mm, I’ll go get presentable, then,” she half yawned, finally standing and stretching out the last holds of sleep on her body and the probable future bruising left by Remy’s little hunting session.

“There’s another pot of caf already brewing, by the way,” Syl called behind her, and Jordanna’s chest fluttered, not just for the source of caffeine, but that she had a real home with a partner who wanted to do things for her like bring her caf when she woke up and loved Remy just as much as her.

Around the corner, Remy was already asleep in an empty crate in the hall, tucked into the space that made no physical sense for him to fit into. Jordanna grinned, shaking her head, grateful for her little corner of the galaxy and the lives within it.

Notes:

Did Syl and Jordanna ever re-join Affie's new Byne Guild? Wookiepedia couldn't tell me, so we're saying they at least talked about it. The galaxy is keeping both ships busy, as we know, anyways. If they did talk about it and it is canon and this contradicted it....no it didn't!

Kudos give Remy scritches; comments fuel the Vengeful Goddess for Jordanna and Syl.
