Summary
Four years ago, Olive Morsov fell in love with a ghost.
Ghost was, of course, a misnomer. Olive was under no delusions that the girl was anything other than dead and gone. She attributed no creaks in the night to wandering spirits, didn’t moon cow-eyed over Ouija boards that spelled achingly slow love letters by her own twitching hand.
She was a rational girl. She understood that Alana Westwood was dead— murdered almost fifty years ago in Catastrophe, brutalized by a man still at large. Maryland’s Black Dahlia, whose case had swept the nation up in a serial-killer paranoia that refused to die out. That, maybe, was what caught her eye in the first place.
