Stage 1: (day 1-6) General throat infection symptoms, hay-fever, difficult to distinguish from a common cough
Stage 2: (day 7-14) Wheezing cough, difficulty breathing, lightheadedness cough particles may have traces of pollen depending on the flower
Stage 3: (day 15-21) Coughing up blood and petals, fever, breathing difficulties
Note: It is highly recommended that the patient receive surgery at the earliest instance; the surgery however is highly risky and does remove the patient's ability to feel love for other people.
Stage 4: (day 22-25) Coughing up whole flowers, and later stems or vines , hallucinations Note: At this stage, surgery is an increased risk due to the flowers taking root within the patient’s lungs, it is discouraged however may still be allowed depending on the severity of the case
Stage 5: (day 26-30)The flowers have completely filled the patient's lungs, and surgery is no longer an option. After 30 days, the patient will succumb to the disease. Cause of death is typically suffocation.
Note: if the individual who is the recipient of the patient’s love were to explicitly return their feelings at this stage, the patient will return to a milder variation of the Stage 2 symptoms, which can be treated as a regular chest infection.
