    Summary

"You don't see the problem," Buck says finally, in as measured a tone as he can, "with getting married to me. For tax purposes."

"Not just tax purposes," Eddie says indignantly, like that's Buck's main sticking point. Buck finally turns his head and looks at him. Still stupid. Still beautiful, in a light-colored Henley that makes his skin glow, his long fingers curled around the neck of the beer bottle resting on his knee. His big brown eyes and the encouraging little smile on his lips, like he's offering Buck a special treat, instead of a lifelong fucking commitment of platonic marriage. Buck wants to kiss him, or maybe strangle him. Either one would serve Eddie right.

Or: Eddie proposes marriage (platonically). Buck spirals.

"I wouldn't mind," Eddie says easily, and Buck's stomach goes through several acrobatic flips before he adds, "if you wanted to sleep with other people, you know."

"I can already sleep with other people without being married to you," Buck retorts, rubbing at his sternum, where something aches.

    Summary

The kid with blood pouring down his shins is not so far from the dog lonely enough that he thinks breaking his housetraining is worth it for the ten minutes of berating that come with it, the ten minutes of undivided, if reluctant, attention.

Buck thinks, sometimes, that at least he wasn’t the kind of puppy that gets put in a sack and drowned at birth. He wasn’t always unwanted. And he isn’t anymore.

or, evan “i love you like a dog” buckley has only ever known how to love like, well, a dog, but maybe eddie diaz is the kinda guy to give a flea-bitten mongrel a forever home

Buck knows he was born for a singular purpose, one he failed to fulfil. How, after, it must have been like getting your kid a puppy for Christmas, half-expecting you’ll end up looking after it yourself. Except your kid is dead, and you and your spouse can’t look at the puppy anymore. But it’s bad taste to take the puppy back to the pound, so you give him free run of the house, of the world, shut your bedroom doors, and just about remember to feed him every night.

    Summary

He startles and automatically reaches to his left pulling out the tape; tossing it toward Eddie who catches it and once again hunches downward toward the storage unit. “Why is school calling you?” Chim asks Buck.

“Uh, they didn’t. They called Eddie but Eddie left his phone upstairs. I saw School was calling and answered it.”

Not appreciating Buck’s tone of voice, as though Chim was stupid, he adds, “But, why?”

    Summary

"I think we should go clubbing again," Buck announces in between Forza races. "We have a Friday in the middle of our 96, it would be perfect."

"You guys planning something?" Hen asks, coming over from the kitchen with a bowl of trail mix.

"I'm trying to get Eddie to come pick up guys with me," Buck says.

Hen's eyebrows arch high above her glasses. "Really," Hen says.

"It's more of a wingman situation," Eddie tries to explain.

"Yeah, Eddie picks the guys so I don't make stupid decisions," Buck says, flicking through menus to pick a new racetrack.

The combination of Hen munching peanuts and looking back and forth between them makes Eddie feel like he's a zoo exhibit. Best Friends, captured in the wild, still feral, exhibiting behaviors heretofore unknown to science.

"Well, good luck with - all that," Hen says pointedly to Eddie. She is definitely not talking about the video game.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Eddie is not entirely sure what an out-of-body experience is supposed to feel like, but as he pulls Tyler in his wake towards the dancefloor, he feels like he's a passenger in his own body. This makes sense, right? Eddie doesn't hook up with guys, but Buck does, and here is a hot guy who wants to hook up. Tall, good at pool, smells nice. So it definitely makes sense for Eddie to - introduce them.

    Summary

Buck and Eddie are friends - best friends. Neither has had a close male friendship quite like this one. So it must be totally normal to think about your best friend's dick 24/7, right? And jerk off together? And make-out? And have phone sex? And...

    Bookmarker's Notes

Lots of guys think about kissing other men. Hell, he thinks about kissing Buck on a twice-daily basis, but since he hasn’t done it, he’s not gonna call himself bisexual. He’s so straight he doesn’t even think about kissing women; he just does it, and he’s had no complaints.
