My Current Wife

Summary:

Lucy tries to do the "my current wife" trend on Angela, but she forgets one tiny thing

Notes:

This is 100% inspired by that couple who did this trend and the wife neck sliced her husband. No I don't condone violence, but if you say stupid shit...

Work Text:

"Ange, come here," Lucy beckoned from across the house. "I wanna film a TikTok."

A loud groan echoed through the house, making Lucy roll her eyes. "You love filming videos, don't lie to yourself!" She still didn't get a an actual response, but she could hear the footsteps getting louder.

"Lucy, why are you trying to make us the annoying couple of our friend group"

"Oh shut up," Lucy replied, before gesturing to the phone in front of them. "Okay, now you just stand there while I tell a story, okay?"

"Yes ma'am."

Lucy resisted the urge to roll her eyes, instead, reaching forward and pressing the record button. Angela, in turn, scooched closer and casually draped her arm around Lucy's waist.

"Okay, so the other day my current wife and I were at the store, because she wanted to get more of those cherry tomatoes, cause she says they taste better, right babe?"

The younger girl paused to see Angela's reaction, but Angela was just staring blankly at the phone screen. Lucy pulled away slightly before turning her head to face Angela's. Said girl's eyes were scanning Lucy's face, not saying a word.

"What?"

"Current wife?" Angela echoed.

Fear flooded through Lucy's entire body as she practically launched herself at Angela. She flung her arms around Angela's entire body and squeezed as hard as she could.

"It's just a trend, babe, I didn't actually mean it," she whispered. "I would never have another wife."

Lucy felt arms wrap around her waist, and only then, Lucy pulled back slightly, making sure Angela could see the genuineness in her eyes. But Angela was still staring back at her with a mix of emotions, confusion taking the lead.

"I swear, I won't get married to anyone else," Lucy reassured. "I absolutely promise."

"Lucy, baby, did you hit your head yesterday?" Angela asked suddenly, hands reaching up to feel for any injuries. "Did you hit the ground when you made that arrest yesterday?"

"No?" But Angela wouldn't stop poking and prodding at her head. "Babe, I'm fine. What are you doing?"

"We're not married."

"Oh."

The two stared at each other for a few seconds before bursting out into laughter. "I really thought you were upset because I said 'current'," Lucy sputtered out between laughs. Angela turned serious in an instant.

"I'm going to be your only wife," Angela stated. She delivered it like a fact, as if one were saying the color of the sky. "Even if I die first, you better be mourning me for the rest of your life."

Lucy chuckled at her girlfriend's seriousness. "What if I'm lonely?" Angela shook her head.

"You can get a cat. Or go move in with Jackson, I'm sure he'd love the company."

"So, what I'm hearing," Lucy drawled out her sentence, loving the intrigued look on Angela's face. "Is that we're gonna get married."

"All in good time, baby."
