Around them, the bar is loud and chaotic. Some pop song blares from the speakers, reverberating through Lucy's bones. Someone bumps into her from behind, but Nyla's grip on her hip keeps her steady. She shifts closer to the other woman, never breaking eye contact.
Everything fades to the background as they slowly sway to the music, completely off-tempo from the fast music drumming in the background. The team had forgone their usually quiet bar for a club and somehow, Nyla and Lucy were the only two left. One shot had turned into two, then three, then four, and before she knew it, they were on the centre of the dance floor, way too close to be dismissed as casual.
They had been in far more intimate positions since they had begun their arrangement a few weeks ago, but this was different. It was supposed to be a temporary agreement, a way to relieve the stress of their jobs and have some fun, but here, anchoring each other amidst the chaos of the club, it feels like more than that.
