It’s cold up on the roof, but Minato doesn’t really mind. It doesn’t matter where he is if Yukari is by his side.
After the pair take a moment to tend to the plants (“They’re sturdy little things to still be growing in this cold,” Yukari mentions as she waters the spinach sprouts), Minato considers going back inside. Perhaps they can cuddle on the couch and watch a movie together.
But Yukari keeps standing on the roof, shivering in the cold but not seeming to care. She tilts her head up to look at the sky, where a complete lack of clouds gives them a perfect view of the wonderful array of stars.
“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” Yukari whispers when Minato walks over, standing at her side. When his hand finds her own, she gasps, but soon lets her fingers intertwine with his, squeezing his hand. “When I look at the stars, I can almost forget everything that’s going on. Do you know what I mean?”
“Yeah,” Minato says, his voice a little rough after not speaking for a few hours. “I get it.”
After a few seconds of silent stargazing, Yukari looks up at him. Her cheeks glow from more than just the cold. “Minato-san… could you… could you maybe…” She trails off, sighing. He imagines Yukari thinking about what she wants to say, before she finally says, “Kiss me?”
Minato smiles. He’s thought about kissing Yukari since they first began dating two days ago, but he could never find the right moment. Here, whilst holding her hand under a canopy of stars, feels like the perfect chance for a first kiss. Without speaking, he nods.
Slowly, Minato places his free hand on her cheek, cupping Yukari’s face as he leans closer. And, carefully, he presses their lips together.
