The Roaring Knight: RECRUITED.

Summary:

Somehow, the Lancer Fan Club RECRUITS their arch-nemesis: The Roaring Knight.

Notes:

You can spare the Knight if you hack in 100% mercy on it, but this’ll crash the game.
I’ve taken some liberties on how that happens.
Listen to Penumbra Phantasm while reading this btw. I didn’t while writing it and that was a mistake.

Work Text:

The Lord of Screens forsook his side of the deal, freeing Toriel from her prison.

So be it, so be it.

The Knight cleaved the Lord as per the Prophecy, though if those Heroes were good they’d have gathered enough allies to fix him up.

Afterwards, it turned its back and floated ominously. Apparently, this was called “aura farming”, which wasn’t entirely inaccurate: it was merely gathering its Will, its DETERMINATION, for what was to come.

Its movements were slow and methodical, its Roar a show of intimidation, though its DETERMINATION was not being gathered to defeat this ‘Lancer Fan Club’ before it. No, those three heroes were hardly a hindrance to its plans.

It raised up its bat, turned it into a sword, and the battle began-

Wait.

Why did it feel like its name was…

Yellow…?

…!

On their first turn, the impossible happened.

Though it had not a single fragment of mercy in its decayed body and dark shell, Kris The Lightbringer extended their MERCY to it, as did their teammates.

It should not have accepted. It could not accept mercy. It was entirely intent on DOWNing the human and SWOONing their allies out of its way, so that it could take Toriel without resistance.

But, impossibly, its SOUL accepted the Mercy, and its body faded into the darkness. Similarly yellow text appeared and denoted that it had been RECRUITED.

All of the DETERMINATION it had gathered, useless now that it had been made a mere Ally to that club, a Friend of the Heroes!

It had been transported to some kind of town with prominent castle-like structures in dark and various Darkners from the two Worlds it had opened.

So this was… their Castle Town.

Impressive.

Before it could be spotted, it flew up. High up.

The Grand Fountain was unmissable, a dark geyser pouring endlessly upwards to form this purest of Worlds that any could exist in.

If those foolish “heroes” thought that they could break this world’s Rules, the Prophecy it was set to cause… well.

May as well break the Worlds apart.

The Grand Fountain stood before it, its sheer mass far exceeding anything it had made before.

It watched the patterns of the Depths flow across the surface, a mesmerising beauty that could not be corrupted.

And yet, through DETERMINATION, it would.

Floating upwards and gathering its Will, it summoned one, then five, then fifty swords, hundreds ready to plunge into the Earth and draw out far more Darkness than any World could handle.

The only three that knew it was here were too busy talking with Officer Undyne to get here and stop it, though they couldn’t if they tried.

The swords plunged into the Darkness, the Fountain overflowing with power…

And solidifying into Stone.

From whence, the Grand Titan hatched, ready to reduce the world to rubble.

THEN THE WORLD

WAS COVERED

IN DARKNESS.

Notes:

I originally said that it hatched “once more” with the idea of The Roaring having happened once before but idk.
